Default Has anyone wrapped their rocker panels?

Hi All -

I've been driven nuts by all the crud collecting on the rockers this winter (not a new problem, I know!). Car is a DD so using it in rain, snow etc so I think I'm going to wrap the bottom of panels, curious if anyone else had done so and if so could share pictures/experiences? Looks like a fairly simple job assuming the panel doesn't need to come off..

Also, my car is a '17 and is polaris white with the black pack. My local tuner thinks satin black would hide the dirt the best. any thoughts on if satin would clash with the gloss of the black pack? Options for the wrap are satin, matte and gloss black.

Thanks!

I havent done the rocker panels but I did do the skirts. I did them in gloss black to match the other bits, it looks good.

If I was to do the rocker panels, I'd take off the skirts and try to accentuate the waist of the car, a bit like the new Vantage.

I xPelled the rockers, and the entire front end. Glad I did. The rockers, particularly right in front of the rear tires, catch a lot of road grime and particulates. After 22000 miles the film in that area already has substantial rash. I will be replacing the xPel on the rockers this summer.

Mine are wrapped in Piano Black, then Xpel over the top, works a treat!

Thanks, it does look good! Just to make sure I'm getting the terminology right: In the picture I've attached, the area outlined in blue is the 'skirt' and the area outlined in red is the 'rocker', is that correct?

Thank you! I was originally planning to wrap just the skirts, but based on your comments may also get the rockers done in clear Xpel

Default Piano vs Satin black

To those who have the skirts wrapped in Piano black - do you think it would be noticeable if they were wrapped in satin vs piano black? Given the purpose (hiding crud) satin may be better, but don't want it to look odd when the weather is nice!!

I wrapped the skirts on my wife's XE in satin. It still shows up the mud, maybe a tiny bit less than the gloss.

This is a crappy photo but it shows the satin black skirts.

I am usually pretty good at wrapping small things on my cars but I find wrapping the skirts a real challenge. I did my wife's in 2 pieces, I gave up on the f type and had it done professionally. It only cost about $200 which was worth it, I think.

Thanks much, thats really helpful. Yeah ive decided not to do myself also - my tuner is quoting me ~$350 - seems a bit steep but I trust his work.

I could live with crud showing a 'tiny bit' more on gloss vs satin, and I'm guessing either will be waay better than white! The satin looks good with the silver trim of the XE but I think it'll clash with the gloss of the black pack on the F. Those skirts are so darned wide though - hope the gloss black wont be overwhelming...

No, it wont be overwhelming - on mine it looks as though it should have been like that to start with. I left a "lip" of body colour at the edge and I had the front little flanges done as well.

Looks heaps better than without, I thought the sports design kit robbed the f type of some of its curves.

My entire car is wrapped in Xpel and it's been great with the rain and snow we've gotten. I'm going to ceramic coat it as well and hopefully that helps the issue with the side skirts a bit...it's very annoying.
