Heated steering wheel question

I have a convertible with the heated steering wheel and when activated it gets "warm" at best so I asked the dealer and was told that is normal. However when I brought my car for service they gave me an XF loaner with a heated steering wheel. When I activated that one after a while it was hard to even hold on to as it got so "hot". Is the F type heated wheel just turned down? I would think especially in a convertible the wheel would get as hot as the XF. Anyone have this issue?

Why would you want the steering wheel to get so hot you couldn't hold on to it?

Mine just gets warm. Sounds like it was the XF with a problem.

I could live without this feature, but it came with the car, and is also packaged with heated seats, which are nice. I've used it a couple of times on very cold mornings, and with the heated seats it's kinda nice until the cabin gets up to temp.

Same here. Mine just gets warm which is great. It does sound like the XF had the problem.

Mine gets pretty dang hot.

It's awesome on the rare 'winter' evening here in Florida when the temperature gets cold - like 50. Nothing like driving around on a crisp evening with the top down, seat and steering heaters on.

Mark me down for warm (and toasty) too. No question on these last few drives I took - 200+ miles in two days - it was lovely having that option to start with (even my wife made mention that she wished her BMW had a heated steering wheel).

haven't used it, but wondering if the heat level in the steering wheel is connected to the heat level you set for the heated seats?

Interesting question. I don't know except that I've never put my seats on the high setting. In all other cars I've owned with heated seats, that's been too hot for me, and the low setting in the F-Type is about right for me.

On the other hand, the steering heat also works with the seat heat off.

The heated wheel on the F Type is designed to just get comfortably "warm", not hot.

In Vegas I thought I would never use this feature, but I did Sat. night. Warm, just right.

Mine's pleasantly warm. I used it just this morning going to work. I almost always have the top down, even into the 30's. Turn up the heater, seat heaters and a nice warm steering wheel and what more could you want on a beautiful crisp morning.

1) No front plate.
2) A beautiful woman - or handsome man for the opposite sex on this forum (or the same sex if that's your preference) - in the passenger seat.
3) No speeding ticket (and/or for no front plate).
4) Not driving in Maryland (see #1)

Total waste of money; there are no winter tires for the car so it's pointless to purchase the climate package; I learned the hard way

I'm getting the impression that someone probably wasn't careful or smooth enough with the right foot.

Or just a bit too literal when reading the "cover your a**" disclaimers on the side of the tires.
