Default Heavy scratchs on F-type front guard

Welcome advice on DIY repairs for the front guard of the Ftype. Misjudged how close the front end was to the curb, and I was really paying attention too... Thanks,

You might try light buffing or very, very light wet sanding (1500 -2000 grit) to level a bit then this product if the scratches are still there:

Langka - Paint Chip Repair

or this product :

https://www.drcolorchip.com

I watched the videos and then used their technique with slightly thinned factory touch up paint, MEK solvent and lintless rags. Followed up with a polishing compound. It worked really, really well.

It won't level the scratches (unless they are shallower than they look) but will hide them well. From my experience I don't think your issue can be fixed with a rubbing/polishing compound. The only way to make it completely right is to properly repaint.

I wouldn't even bother with trying to buff that out as it's unlikely to fully correct the blemishes. Those scratches look pretty deep and in the 2nd photo on the right it looks like a big paint chip came off. I believe that piece can be removed separately from the primary bumper where you can just take that part to your body shop individually without leaving the entire car with them. Maybe someone in here can confirm this for us.

you probably can't get rid of them completely but before deciding to paint, I would cut polish using various grits to see how much will come out. I use Meguires clear coat polish in about 5 different grit levels

You asked for potential DIY ideas, so here's one. Fill the scratches with body putty or some other suitable filler, sand to level and apply 1/4" pin striping tape in the color of your choice to the entirety of the "lip". I did mine with red tape just for the effect, not to cover any imperfections. You could go with a color that closely matches your body color if you don't want it to stand out. FWIW

...could probably have it wrapped in black too.

If you are going to wrap it you really have to clean it up and make it smooth first, and probably paint it. Wrap wont adhere to a bad surface, it will just bubble up sooner or later.

I would get one of the bumpertech kind of guys out - the ones who fix paint scrapes on the plastic parts of the cars. Between having scratches to my daughter's cars fixed and my mother's, we are pretty much on a first name basis with the bumpertech guys, I think you'd have that fixed nicely for $100 or so.

I replaced that piece with a new one on my MY2015 and it wasn't overly expensive and it was a fairly easy DIY.
Yours is a little different (obviously a recent MY) but it should still be mounted the same as the earlier MY (5 torx screws along the back), so that would be my plan of attack - go here https://parts.jaguarreno.com and enter your year and model, then browse to find the part number and price. Maybe then enquire with your dealership service dept about how it is attached.

Edit - I'm guessing you have a MY2018 or 2019 in which case this seems to be the correct part: https://parts.jaguarreno.com/oem-par...UtMGwtdjgtZ2Fz
And yes it seems to have the same five mounting points on the back.

Probably depends on the wrap.....and the one doing it. I've had lots of luck with wrap on uneven surfaces.

Thanks for the pointer. Perhaps at this price, it seems reasonable to purchase and replace, vs. the sanding and refinishing route.

I like the wrap option also, but will still need to smooth out the scrapes.
