Are incentives subtracted from the negotiated price of the car or from the negotiated price+ taxes? (example: Mark Your Territory incentive). The dealer said it is after taxes are added. Just want to confirm.

You pay state sales taxes on the negotiated sales price from the dealer. Factory direct incentives are not considered by the state in their tax calculations. Example:
Dealer negotiated price on R - $100k
Sales tax @ 6% - $6k
MYT Incentive - $3k (may be in the form of a check)
Out the door - $103k
At least that's the way it works in Maryland.

Either way, it works out to be close to the same thing. In Lance's example above, if the incentive came off before sales tax calculation, OTD would be $102,820 vs. $103K.

Thanks for the info. I have a deal on 2015 'R' pending. The dealer accepted my offer, but is contingent on sale completing on my other vehicle next week.
