Default Help on pricing

I'm in Sacramento, CA. I found a V6 coupe with a MSRP of $79k. The dealer showed the invoice which listed it at $73k. He's willing to split the difference, and sell it at $76k. I'm guessing that's not a very good offer... but don't really know. What should I hold out for? There's also a used F-type R with 4500 miles that's listed at $98k. What would be a good offer for that one? Thanks.

I think the first question I would ask - what year is it?

I am pretty sure you can find a better price on an in-stock F Type given that we are now switching model years.

I just bought a new 2015 R loaded with options for just over 99K (it listed at over 109K). What year is the used R? What options does it have? Is the V6 Coupe a 2015? Is it new? California prices seem to be much higher than what we pay here in Florida.

Hard to tell you what you should pay without knowing the options or seeing a copy of the original window sticker.

On the Base car (new), offer 9% below list - 71.9K.

On the R, which is used, their used price is very high. They are asking what they probably sold if for originally. I'd offer 88K and be prepared to walk away.

Used R - asking 89.9:

2015 Jaguar F-Type R for Sale near Charlotte, NC - EveryCarListed.com

Used R - asking 92.8:

2015 Jaguar F-Type R for Sale near Warrenville, IL - EveryCarListed.com

Your dealer is not very aggressive on pricing.

FWIW, i just put a deposit down on a new 15 V6S coupe, at a discount of little over 15% off of MSRP. I am buying the car out of state, but there are definitely some deals to be had.

Current benchmarks for new cars:
2016 5% disc
2015 10%
2014. 15%
all off MSRP

I'm happily married to my convertible, but I'm curious as to how and where you got such a great discount.

Don't forget $3000 Jag money on top of discount! Maybe club discount still available? That could be $5500 plus your best deal.

Jag deal and JCNA deal can't be taken at the same time (They are both JLR incentives that can't be stacked). However, either is on top of the dealer negotiated discount.

Thanks for the help. The dealer wouldn't budge. Instead of a car it looks like I'll be buying a lawn...

... at least you won't have a difficult time deciding on a color.

The Jag cash incentive of $3000 is good until the end of March. The JCNA discount of $2500 and the Jag discount are mutually exclusive. You can get one or the other, but not both.

You can always take your business elsewhere.

I'll PM you the details. Don't want to post until I actually have the car in my hands next week.

Jag dealer called back. Offered $74,500+$3000 incentive. OTD is $79,628. How's that?

Not sure I understand the numbers. Are you saying the price is 74,500 after taking the incentive plus 5128 for (~6%) taxes , etc? If so the dealer only cut you a 2% deal? Should be closer to 7-10%. The 3k incentive doesn't come out of his pocket.

For a 2015 MSRP of $79k you should shoot for a 6320 discount (8%) plus taxes & plates (est. 6.5%) and then take back the 3000 from JLR. Out the door ~ $74500. Of course, my assumptions may be all wrong.
