This is to support an active Service Action K309."
Someone get this to that poster from the UK (I forget his handle) who was losing his flipping mind over this!

Yep. Tried it at lunch today. The kitty is a lot more talkative. Makes no sense really.

That must mean that Trac mode is doing something to the engine programming... which it shouldn't be?

Fantastic, thanks for the update Cam. I am also still considering the other option we talked about.

Thank you. I'll give that a try on the way to work tomorrow.

Thanks for the thought guys after banging my head against a wall for best part of 12 months JLR set my ecu back to factory setting and got it running correctly with power and sound but told me they wouldn't cover the oxygen sensors on warranty but did confirm they were working on an update to fix the issue I had and as a gesture of good will they would pay and fit for an exhaust of my choice which was completed just last week!!!!

It's great to hear they took care of it, and you're happy. It sounds to me as if you were instrumental in getting them to acknowledge the issue, which led to the update. Now let's hope that works.

The only thing that still puzzles me is why so many have had the update and reported no difference. Mine goes in for an annual in a few weeks, and I'm sure they'll want to do it then. It hasn't been to the dealer since K309 was released.

Well, damn... that's impressive! Which exhaust did you go with?

Well the big question that they still can't answer is why mine was affected so badly and some no affect some just a little it really was quite bizarre.
On the exhaust side I always wanted the Arden exhaust main reason was how much the active exhaust button had an affect on it and I must say it's quieter than the standard exhaust white valves closed (other half doesn't think so though)
With them open holy hell its fantastic and zero drone while cruising really pleased with it but Arden did mess around for a month to send it.
Plus I paid for the 200 cell cats and no eml light so far!!!!

Cam, yes if there is a link to this release can you please post it? I want to send it to my service advisor and get the car booked in for the update

I'm going in next week for oil change and brake flush, and they want to do the K309 as well. Planning on letting them.

Yes, me too. I'm actually going to remind them to do it. Some time ago Cam explained that there were good technical reasons for doing it, but I'd like ensure there is a near certainty that I keep my snap, crackle, and pop.

Double clutching is proper shifting.

Most people can't shift properly.

OK I haven't got hold of the actual documents yet but these are the titles of the bulletins, your dealer can get them out of Topix.

K309v3 - Oxygen (O2) sensors
JTB00495 - Exhaust Noise Reduction
SDD145_08_V240J - Jaguar SDD software-update 145_07 release note

+1. the purpose isn't to match engine speed to transmission shaft speed (modern syncronizers do that job quite well), it's to match tail shaft speed to road speed so you don't lose rear wheel traction during a downshift entering a turn.

At least I know I'm not crazy. I think it advances the throttle or something.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps it "reprograms" one of the PCM nannies?

I'm just glad they have figured it out and are taking action. I have stopped them from doing K309 twice waiting for clarity. Great to see that forum members have had an impact. Continues to validate the practical value of this site and its membership....of course the fun quotient helps too
