He seems to have skipped an important step in that video - I didn't see him polish the car in any way before applying the Gtechniq EXO coating. Even though it was supposedly a new car, there would still most likely have some marring in the paint from the transport process. I personally have never seen a new car without some marring in the paint that didn't need to be polished out.

Nice video! This guy seems to have a lot of pride in detailing to perfection. These cars look great when they are clean but are still a ball to drive when they are dirty.

After using a clay mitt, you will always get some marring - a good final polish with a DA or orbital is really needed in case any marks were caused.

But does show the attention to every little aspect of a car needed by good detailers. It's a bleeding hard job - takes me 4-5 hours to properly do my car and I don't go to that level.

He was applying a coating (EXO) to the car that a detailer would usually only do after a polish. It's not a cheap product and will not come off after a few washes so any marring under it will stay there for a good while.

Of course, the owner might have had the car polished before but, even so, claying any car (even with a mitt) will usually introduce paint issues that a light polish with a DA will get out very easily.
