Default I got influenced

And not in a good way if there is such a thing. Went to a restaurant and parked in plain sight under good lighting just to be a little bit carful, walked out to a crease in the very front lip of the hood about the width of somebodies butt and a heel mark on the front lip. Looks like my car got influenced with somebody taking pictures on the hood . Not a big crease, but it is there and my PDR wizard says he can't fix it due to location. For those of you that have replaced a hood did you order from dealer, let insurance take care of it, or salvage yard?
oh and Rant on, who the ***** sits on the hood of somebody else's car without asking????

Who sits on the hood of someone else's car?...............stupid kids who think it's cool to get a selfie on the hood of a nice car and have no respect for others' property.
Sorry for the damage. Maybe check social media pages in your area to see if someone posted a pic of themselves sitting on the hood of a Jag. Then track them down.

Default Any age does this!

A sign of the times.. general disrespect for the property of others. Parents who think their little children are god's gift and they should be able to do anything they want.. hang on doors of cars to be able to see inside, etc. However, there ARE those parents who loudly and verbally warn their children DON"T TOUCH! and to them I want to express my deepest gratitude!

I would agree, the social media generation will be hot to post this photo.. see who may have posted and press charges if necessary! Get their ins co to cover your damage! Why should YOU bear the repair responsibility?

Keep us posted as to how this plays out?

Check with the restaurant to see if they have a parking lot camera. Maybe they have a picture of the miscreant if they have one.

I have to be honest, I stay off social media on purpose so I wouldn't have the first clue on how to search for evidence, and I really don't want to go into that cesspool anyways cost to replace the hood is way less than spending time there. The restaurant was no help, I think they don't want to be involved. I need a custom-made sunscreen that says don't sit on my car please, or maybe I figure out how to wire the hood to the battery, so it shocks when they ground it out like an electric fence

Default No respect for other people property

It's about envy and jealousy and resentment. When you combine these elements the person has a sense of entitlement that they are allowed to do what they want to other people's property, simply because they want to.

Something happened to me about 1 year ago. I drove my 2017 F-Type R Coupe sports car to a very nice local Italian pizzeria restaurant. It would be considered casual dining. The place is operated by real Italians and the food is excellent. I intentionally parked my jaguar super far away, from the other park cars in the parking lot. My car was the only car in the area, where I parked the Jaguar F-Type, when entering into the Italian restaurant. After me and the wife finished our meal, we exit the restaurant and we walked to the Jaguar and I see a large black color Ford expedition parked literally up the *** of the Jaguar. Without exaggeration, I am telling you you could barely fit your credit card between the back bumper of my Jaguar and the nose of the Ford expedition. Whoever drove and owns this Ford expedition did this intentionally. Why because the owner of the Ford sees the Jaguar parked extremely far away from the other park cars and his attitude is, I'll teach this funking guy a lesson, so he just about touches my car with his car to make his point. What is his point you may say and think, his thought process must be, who the hell is this guy and he thinks he's so special with his stupid Jaguar car parking it far away from the other cars, so I'll teach him a lesson and I'll park my car right up his ***. I wanted to go back inside into the Italian pizzeria restaurant and make a big stink to find out who is the owner of the black Ford expedition. I'm 6 ft 1, I weigh 235 lb and I've always kept myself in good shape considering my age. My significant other pleaded with me not to make a scene, since there was no damage to the Jaguar and she insisted we just get in the car and drive away. So I calmed down I listen to her words and we drove off, leaving the parking lot. But this is the type of people that exist in society. They do not respect other people's property. If they see something nice, resentment jealousy and envy kicks in and unfortunately at times, they act upon their unhinged emotional thoughts.
One important fact, there's a police PBA gold shield mounted inside my front windshield by the inspection sticker. If you have this it's obvious you're either active or retired law enforcement. The owner of the Ford expedition must have seen the PBA shield and still didn't give a **** and he did what he did.

Sorry to hear of your experience. I have had two similar experiences with my Viper years ago. I caught a man taking pictures of a woman laying on my hood in a Walmart parking lot. My car was parked by itself far away from all other cars. The second incident happened at a auto parts store. When I pulled in, there were a group of guys in a construction truck that I parked beside. I went in to get parts for a truck I was working on, and when I came out there were cigarette butts on my hood and burn marks where they had put the cigarettes out. In both cases I ended up repairing the damage myself. This was 15 years ago, so it is not anything new, and in both cases the people were in their 20's and 30's not teenagers.
When I tell people these stories, the first response I get, is why did you take a Viper to Walmart, or to the auto parts store. That tells me all I need to know.

I had some PDR done on my hood after I stupidly knocked something off a shelf onto the hood, leaving a ding. The PDR guy told me he had a tough time with it because of the "stoutness" of Jaguar aluminum. So I can't imagine what a whale-butt this person must have been to leave a crease in your hood...

I hate to say it but you may change your mind on that after you price a hood. I have not done so, but I bet they are not cheap given what other parts for the car cost.

My wife had asked me to take her someplace expensive for our anniversary. I took her to the Jaguar parts counter! She was not amused.

I was quite surprised how reasonably priced a hood for my XE was (which I haven’t yet purchased, after a deer impacted it not very hard last fall.)

Not just kids, my convertible was parked just below a parking lot, in another parking lot and a company was having a cookout in the upper lot. Guy in his 50's flicked a cigarette into my car (top was down), luckily shop I was at had camera's and they got the guy who did it. Lot of people blame kids and with good reason, but self entitled older people are I think worse.

I had someone do that to my Porsche 911S. They left footprints on the hood and my insurance agent said at that time it was a "thing" to jump on a hood of a nice car and post pics online. Since it was a fiberglass hood, same deal my dent guy said he could make it 90% perfect which didn't fly with me. Took it to a Porsche body shop and replaced with new hood and ran through insurance. I felt horrible until my agent said another customer of his has a Nissan GTR and someone poured a can of Coke on his carbon fiber hood and destroyed it.
