Don't have a document but here is a pic of factory location.
41/2 inches from the lip of the hood/bonnet to the front of the leaper front base, 9" to the rear of the leaper base.
Thank you!
The genuine ornaments are awfully pricey and only from America (I'm from the UK).
I found some stick-on ornaments that are made in China, for a cheap £26 (practically free with Amazon vouchers lol) and they're made out of zinc alloy.
What are the genuine ornaments made out of? Will I notice a big difference in quality?
It is illegal in many areas to fit a bonnet leaper without a spring mounting/breakaway device to avoid pedestrian injury.
The ones fitted here in North America have such things built-in.(spring mounts and can be torn loose fairly easily)
Probably why they are more expensive than solid chinese cast ones?
In case you were curious, I purchased a stick-on ornament for £9 on Amazon. A little research tells me it's possibly illegal to have that but I highly doubt the police would be picky..
I miss my Leaper dearly...had one on all my previous XJs (Sovereign, XJ12, and VDP), but, for me, they are out of place on the x351s. The lines are just "wrong" for me. BUT, there truly is NO accounting for taste and you should do whatever you want, regardless of the opinion of anyone else. Cheers!
Some rules/laws are meant to be broken. Stupidity has no boundaries. Pedestrian injury from a hood ornament? Give me a break.
If you don't like my leaper and the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk!
on a related note, the spring loaded part of my leaper seems to be missing and it's somewhat loose. Wondering if that can be remedied?
