Default Jaguar Remote Journeys

The 'journeys' tab on my Jaguar remote app seems to consistently show my F Type about 300ft east of where the car is parked. So when I'm at home it claims it's 4 houses down the street.

Not a big deal - but irritating. And on our Land Rover it's spot on every time. Anyone else seen this - and any resolution? Dealer could reproduce the issue when car was in for service, but said there isn't any adjustment. And software updates didn't make any difference.

Mine claims to be parked next door! Not as big a difference as yours, but not 100% accurate.

I think it is intentional to distract (alien) invaders from stealing your cars.
More importantly, does it send you down the wrong road or put the cliff edge in the wrong place?

And then Jaguar gives you a Home button in the nav system so anyone stealing your keys and car away from home has access to everything! I've heard of people storing the address of their local police station in their Home location ...

I love the police station idea!

Good question on navigation. I've never used it - always Waze and Spotify on my phone which I much prefer
Will check the Nav for accuracy.

I see people post things about this all the time, but almost everyone keeps their registration in the glovebox that has......the home address printed on it. So it's easy enough to just type the address into the navi. The home button with your real address is not a safety concern.

Er, almost everyone in the US. No such requirement in the UK, or probably Europe. My registration is hidden away in a folder at home in my "office". And the cops have access to the online database that proves ownership, they probably know everything about me before they pull me over (which they've never done so far!).

It is a requirement in most (all) US states to have your driver's license and vehicle registration with you at all times while driving.
In some (not all) states it is necessary to carry proof of insurance.
The first thing you are asked for in a traffic stop is "license and registration" - don't ask how I know!!

In the UK all that stuff is available to law enforcement online. Our roads are also scattered with number plate recognition cameras so they know who's travelling where most of the time (useful for spotting stolen vehicles, I guess). We can do our annual registration onine and the system knows if license, insurance, test certificates, etc. are up to date. Downside is insurance companies cane us for car modifications, so we can't have everything.

I also use a location near my home but not my actual home address. I do not recommend leaving registration in your car, in the US it is not required as long as you can show proof of ownership within a reasonable time. Your proof of insurance also works for that if your validation tag is not expired, side note keep a photo of your insurance on your phone in case you are in an area without reception. a little off topic but thought it might help.

This is incorrect. As CJSJAG pointed out, every state is different. Besides, in most states the *title* proves ownership, not the registration. The registration only proves it's been registered with the state's Department of Motor Vehicles and, for states that require it, you have the appropriate insurance. In some states, not having the registration in your possession is a citeable offense. It doesn't have to be left in the vehicle, but since most people don't want to carry it with them everywhere they leave it in the glove box.

I do not want to hijack this thread but if you would like we can discuss on another. I will agree some states may have this law in place but as long as you can show proof of ownership within a reasonable amount of time that should surfice the stopping office, again i recommend taking a picture of insurance info (even if it's digital you may not have service) heck take a picture of your registration if you want but more harm will come from leaving it in your car if said vehicle is broken into.

I find the F-Type apps and InControl stuff way below average, borderline horrible.

For instance, why do I have to sign into my onboard Nav system account repeatedly if I want to use the features on each drive. Other than the remote start, I gave up on the tech. Most car companies can't get their infotainment/nav stuff right. But, its easy on our phones, and Apple CarPlay is saving many manufactures from continued embarrassment.

What features do you have to login to get? I've never logged into my nav in the past 3 years and haven't noticed any lack of features as a result.

Agreed. I haven't had to log into the nav system in the vehicle and I can access all the features of the app. I find the app to be quite good, all things considered.

Actually, I don't know what features, perhaps saved locations? However, it is asking me to log in, all the nav stuff works fine without a login but there is this annoying log-in prompt. If I select log-in it asks for my account password, and there is not "remember me" or save password (unless I'm missing a step). I will take a look later for more details.

As a side gripe: It took two trips to the dealer to get the 4G card to work. When I bought the car, the dealer said the 4G often does not work out of the box, give it a few days and call service if you can't get it working. I will start a different thread about my bizarre dealer and service experiences.

Some SIMs need to be registered - best to slap it in a cell phone initially to make sure it works, then pop it in the car and all should be well. I've never had a SIM that didn't work out of the box, but I am in the UK in case that makes a difference.

My InControl Remote shows the car about 30 feet NE of its true location.

I have never even seen a login on my Nav system. I suspect that’s model year specific.

Isn't there a known bug in a specific version of the ICTP software causing the satnav to lose your login credentials? I had that issue too and it disappeared after I updated the software to the latest version.
