Default Just how rare is a red roof?

Hi guys i am in the UK and i was wondering just how rare a non Black soft top / vert roof is?

For instance i have a red roof on white body and looking at the classifieds for a few months i would say these are 1 in 20 at best.

I am curious if anyone has details on how many cars exist world wide with coloured roof options?

I am also curious if anyone has a definitive list of the Rare specifications (not Project 7's ect) but future holey grails.....i.e. like the mustang on Fast and Loud (gas monkey garage) that was a Red Boss 302 with no options fitted.

Thanks.

J

Rare...or another way to put it....supply and demand. There just is not a huge demand for red tops.

As to what the Holy Grail may be....who knows? Times and tastes change. If I knew all those 80’s toys would be worth so much today, I’d never have taken them out of the box!

Rare doesn't necessarily mean more valuable, i.e. Holy Grail. Rare, like an L88 in a Corvette, that's a good thing. That same year Vette with a normal engine but a red vinyl top...not so much. Rare colors only sometime bring more money. It's about what the buyer wants.

My opinion is that in years to come, the 2015 RWD R Coupe will be a collector, but I bought an AWD R because I live in the moment.

I have some Hess toys from the 80s still in the box. I thought some day they may be collectibles, but I haven't tracked the market.

thanks. It's truly one of only two I've seen on the east coast. The other was in Maine two years ago.

I like the red but would worry about fading here in sunny Texas. Red dyes traditionally don’t fare well...

Mine is white with a tan roof. I haven't seen this combination very often.

Great minds, dearest sir. Without a picture from Buckingham, I will post one of mine, another of mine in his honor, and then another to help you understand where my proclivities have resided in 26 years of driving.

I will say, there's a few elegant mercedes verts in town, one with a red roof, and one with a blue roof, that are glorious. I personally love "different" models, and I am an anti-fan of black tops. It's boring to me. But looking at my Jeep, I've been poisoned by decades of confirmation bias and selective perception.
