Default Just Wanted to Say Goodbye...

While I've browsed and casually participated in other car forums, this was the first I really engaged in. It's been really fun so just wanted to say goodbye....

Some of you might recall I got a puppy about a year ago. At first it was cool to drive around with a little puppy in the passenger seat. Guys liked the cars, girls loved the puppy :-p But as she got bigger and the honeymoon period passed it became tiresome to deal with a dog in a sports car. So I picked up a little Mini Cooper to use as a dog mover.

Loved the Mini. So convenient for running errands, squeezing into tight SF parking spots. Didn't have to worry about the dog making a mess, tearing up the seats, etc. On nice days would still take the Jag out w/ the dog for a nice drive.

But as the months went by I started driving the F-Type less and less. It just sat in garage for weeks on end, making the occasional appearance at a Cars & Coffee. With the El Nino season it got worse. Got to a point where I drove it around the block purely to make sure the batteries didn't drain. Meanwhile space issue with the Mini was becoming a little annoying. Just wished it had a little more space for the dog crate, etc.

So I had 2 cars, paying for 2 insurance, 2 parking spots, 2 car washes...one of which I didn't drive, the other I drove all the time but needed a little more space. Finally did the math and it wasn't worth it just having the Jag sit there. So I consolidated into a Countryman since I love the charm of the Mini but just needed a little more space.

I'm sure on a nice day I'll really miss having the F-Type for a blast down the coast. We'll see, maybe my itch will return once spring comes, but for now I'm Jagless.

So I just wanted to give a proper "goodbye". This forum has been really fun. Frankly without the forum I probably would have made this decision 6 months ago, but the forum keep my interest in the F-Type just enough, until now. Until next time!

Good bye. It was nice reading your comments here. For myself, I can't imagine letting my F-Type go. I still love to drive it and I don't think it will ever change.

Always sorry to see any major contributor to the forum leaving but fully understand why the F-Type make no sense for you at the present time.

I'm sure there will be a next time!

being new here - haven't read too much yet - understand the sale, but why do you feel you have to leave - from the comments so far, your input has been valued.
being a member of the forum doesn't have a pre-requisite to having a Jag I assume.
Enjoy the erm .... not so mini, mini lol

Been there done that...

Sorry to see you go Shift, and I understand you decission, even though I don't agree. I hope you won't regret, as I have done earlier. It's all very individual, so for you it might be the right choice. Just remember - you only live once, so make the best out of it while you can.

Best of luck whatever the future brings

I still check in on the primary forums for my previous two cars, although I do still own the C30 (looking for a good home for it, but not giving it away). Hopefully you'll continue to contribute but either way, I hope you enjoy the puppy and the Mini and have great times with both.

Sorry to see you go Shift - I understand the headache of urban living with multiple cars.

Sorry to see you go,these cars never make sense. I put 4400 on mine last year! But I'm retired and Las Vegas doesn't require long drives to get anywhere.

All my best Shift, always sad to see a long time member and major contributor move one.

I think the better solution would have been to teach your dog to drive - you in the Jag, he/she chasing you in the Mini. (Dogs like chasing.)

I enjoyed your experiments with stickers, even though they aren't my cup of tea.
