Leak that dries sutty, but is not leaking at the exterior of the exhaust
Hey guys,
So I got my V8 R. The dealer has service records showing that they did a rear differential seal replacement. And then did a 150-point inspection afterwards with no leaks.
However, this was in my garage.
Pictures attached.
I've read that a watery substance that dries as soot is normal and nothing to be concerned about. However I was thinking that would be from the exterior of the exhaust. You can see in the picture this is leaking down. Can anyone provide me with some information as to what this is and if I should stop driving immediately and be concerned, or if this is normal?
Edit: Service says this is completely normal.

blackjagr, just purchased a 2017 F Type R from a Jaguar dealership in Mobile, AL a couple of weeks ago. After a 1600 mile drive back to Maine I noticed similar spots in my garage the next day after the car had sat overnight from the trip. Checked with my local Jaguar dealership and was told that it was nothing to be concerned with and was the result of extensive driving after the vehicle had limited use while it sat on the dealer lot for the past couple of months. I have had no more sooty wet spots in the garage since and your exhaust leak attachment summed up the issue perfectly. Enjoy your new R!
Great to hear, Portland. Thanks for the info; very happy to hear there's not something seriously wrong. Knowing that they changed the differential seal had me really worried seeing this. But also noting that it wasnt an oil consistency made senses that it was probably something else. Yeah, dealer said it's just the carbon buildup
Enjoy your R as well! I absolutely love mine. Really surprised with how comfortable it is. Need some good rear tires, though. Can't hardly do much without spinning
