Default Likely I'm no Audiophile, but...

Finally took the time to focus a bit on the stereo/radio in this F-type. The way people have been talking on here I was expecting this thing to be absolutely horrible. I don't find it to be bad at all myself. That's at stock settings. I didn't mess with it at all and I'm pretty happy with it. I was just listening to radio too, so I suspect it I used a better source of some kind I would really be good with it etc...

It's like anything else I guess, we all have different ideas of what sounds good/bad...I sprung for the "Surround" version to give it the best opportunity to be sounding as good as possible. Either way, I'm good. Perhaps my bar is not very high, not sure...

That's my takeaway as well. The 770w 'Surround' audio sounded pretty decent on my 2016 F-type, especially with CDs as the source. The 2024 model year audio system does sound significantly better (greater clarity, deeper bass), now using CarPlay in lieu of a CD player.

I don't think the 380W Meridian system in mine is any worse than the 550W B&W system that was in my XKR. Both perfectly acceptable for the few times I bother to turn it on, and always from a USB stick. I do have 70 year old ears, which may be an advantage!

Most complaints surround the buzzy bass, mainly due to the location and lack of effort to seal the “enclosure” of the rear subs.

The doors aren’t well prepped for quality audio either, but not any worse than other cars.

There were bugs in the amp program causing tweeter problem, and other trim buzzing related issue.

They were somewhat addressed in newer models.

Oh and another point was the audio sounds bad for the price of the car.

I find it "O.K", but if you turn a bass heavy piece up at all, the woofer starts knocking unpleasantly on my 2016 model V6 S

I'm fortunate to have the 770 watt Surround system in my 2023 P450

The box of DYNAMAT arrived yesterday afternoon

I had a 2013 Mustang, 420 HP V-8 with wonderfully sweet sounding GT 500 mufflers.

Did the weel wells, floors, doors, driveshaft tunnel and trunk.

Killed road noise and allowed the exhaust to stand out

the difference was EXTREME

Hoping for the same - will report results back here
BEST !

It doesn't sound better than it whats in my 11 year old Nissan which is OK I guess. Though for people's argument I think for the money it should sound better.

Exactly, it’s not better or worse than most other cars, and that’s a fault for a 100k + gt car with a labeled premium system.

There is definitely something wrong with the F-Type's audio system, at least in my '16 R with the Meridian Surround there was.
My son's '17 XE Meridian Surround system sounds so much better and the drivers aren't anywhere near the quality the F-Type had.
The F-Type's "tune" (time alignment, EQ, crossover settings and individual driver levels) was way off, I couldn't get a decent sound stage out of the factory system and the sub's were one note wonders.
There was absolutely no punch or dynamic range from the amp.
The enclosure for the subwoofer drivers was beyond horrible, nothing but resonance from the trim pieces.

It's a bit like saying the factory supplied Pirelli's are OK. Sure, they round, they black and they hold air but really...

There are better products then Dynamat and better applications than sticking it to every surface.

I'm in the okay camp, don't really like a lot of base. I can hear it with the roof down, my most important feature.

There were issues apparently at one point with the wrong software being installed that can be corrected by a dealer. My experience, be sure to select the Meridian Surround option when tweaking the settings. I find my 2017 S sounds. fine. But, I listen to the music not the system, and also don't like play the kind of music that requires heavy bass.

The F-Type cabin doesn't really have enough volume to let real bass notes "breathe".

Not disagreeing, but for my tastes in music the 380 Meridian is much better than the B & W XKR. I thought the latter was pretty tinny and I'm told it was great for jazz which I dont listen to, and it did play very nicelyan acoustic based song I was listening to.

The 380 Meridian sounds pretty good to quite good for heavier beat music if it is turned up, it sounds awful to me on low. It can handle quite heavy bass without distorting too much, and since we are talking about breathing, if you want to test it whack "Breathe" by Zabo on in the car and you will see how much it can take.

Just added Dynamat to the doors and trunk.

see thread:
Road Noise - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Outstanding improvement - my 770 Meridian now sounds 100% better.

Too bad the bean counters at the factory wouldn't allow for this.

Likely the same fellows who made the decision to go all electric.

BEST !

Mine breaths just fine, as a matter of fact cabin gain takes me down below 20hz. Attached is the raw driver response of my signle Adire 12" before tuning.

My experience is that some recordings sound fantastic and some sound like crap. Also a lot of the mid-bass ‘flapiness’ (around 80hz) distortion at moderate volumes oddly goes away at higher volumes. There is plenty of speaker hardware (albeit with compromised enclosures) and amplifier power, but clearly there are defects in the EQ and signal processing.

I’m good with the sound that come from my 2015 R. I actually tend to turn the volume down so I can hear the motor/intake/exhaust more often than not. =)

My system got better after I used settings recommended years ago on the forum.
