Welcome to the new normal they kept telling us about...
Yeah, sure. We all know the state of inventories at dealerships. Seems a bit unrealistic that we're hoping a business will hold back saleable inventory as a courtesy loaner. We've got the Jag, an Audi and a Benz, all the supporting dealerships tell the same story. No loaners available. Hell, all their lots are bone dry, inventory-wise.

Didn't argue or get pissy about it with them at all. As you said, most realize the shortage issues.
But what makes it tough is that our truck is our company rig that we use for our construction business.
I also wondered about those people who literally have no other vehicle to use during times like this. Luckily we do, though not appropriate for job site stuff.

This thread was revived from over a year ago. The chip shortage wasn't an issue then.

I had to book my last service one month in advance to reserve a loaner... And then on the day before the appointment, the dealership called to tell me that they had run out of loaners. I told them I understand the supply challenges and the rep booked me another appointment a further three weeks out with a guarantee that they would have a loaner for me.

Fast forward three weeks and I show up to drop off my car, and the service advisor tells me they ran out of loaners... I could have planned around that if they had called me to tell me again, but I'd say it's pretty unprofessional to let it happen twice and then not notify me until I got there.
