Locking/unlocking ftype
Lately I have had problems locking and unlocking my ftype. I press the key fob button but nothing happens. I thought it may be a battery problem, so used the spare key fob and exactly the same. It doesn't work on first pressing. I've noticed this is a problem now the colder weather has set in. Today I noticed too that when I press the key fob a red light appears on the dash board - not sure if this is normal or what it means, I cannot find anything that relates to it in the drivers manual. Any ideas?
Could the car's battery voltage be low (you don't give any vehicle details so we can only guess)? How old are the fob batteries, they may both run out at the same time, although unlikely.
I presume you actually push the door handle in twice to activate the double locking?
On my MY18 pressing the door handle single locks the car, double pressing double locks. I get a beep when double locking, no beep (but the indicators flash) on single locking.
Apologies to the OP, we seem to have hijacked this thread.

Agree. All other cars I have owned enabled keyless entry, but the F-type allows for keyless locking as well. I never use the fob, which is is very nice feature indeed.

The car is a 2014 V6 Supercharged coupe. I haven't been using the car as much as I used to so I guess it could be that. Ive owned the car for 2 years and haven't changed any of the batteries in the key fobs.
The OP didn't say what year his car is, but I had to replace the battery in my primary fob, after 4 or 5 years (don't recall if it was this spring or last spring.) The 2nd fob still worked, but I replaced that one too.
I'd try a new battery in at least one fob before trying anything else.

IIRC double locking is a feature that was not available on US F-Types for the first few years and maybe has never been available.
Anyway, as already suggested, start with the simple things first such as changing the fob batteries. Instructions are in the Owner's Handbook and they take a single CR2032 in each fob.

Go into the Settings menu and it's in there somewhere.

its your FOB batteries, it will usually start telling you it can't locate the FOB on the dash when you try to start it a few weeks/months before the FOB batteries themselves won't lock/unlock anymore. its really easy to change the batteries and they can be sources from any pharmacy or amazon. CR2032 is the battery. its will act wierd for a few days after you change them but will be 100% after. i hope no one posted this already if they did sorry.
