Look in SoCal for the best deals. Hornburg or Mission Viejo.
NorCal dealers will not even approach their deals.

That would make our cars _REALLY_ collectable... but ya, not much demand for MT.

My bad I misspoke, at least $15K off MSRP (which still puts it below invoice). Thing is, dealers also don't pay invoice when you count programs, as there are multiple programs that are in play. If, for example, the car was 'sold' to dealer to get it off the JLR books, then dealer probably got anywhere 15% to 20% off the invoice price. They could pass most of these savings to you.

Yes, I know dealers don't pay what their invoice says once other JLR sales incentives are factored in. And yes, that amount off MSRP is possible, but tough to get on a V6S manual. Where I completely disagree with you is that a dealer is going to get 15-20% off their "invoice price" from JLR.

Unless JLR is somehow different than other manufacturers, once a car is delivered to a dealer, the dealer pays for it, and it is no longer on "JLR's books." All cars are sold to dealers by JLR. The dealer can later list a car as "sold" to qualify for sales incentives, but that starts the warranty clock, even though it hasn't actually been sold to a customer and registered. It also possibly helps the dealer qualify for other incentive payments based upon overall sales from JLR. I can't imagine that amounts to 15-20% off invoice.

However, on inventory that's been hanging around for a long time, it becomes cost-effective to write down the asset for tax purposes, and they can also deduct losses. With the warranty clock running and tax write-offs, it is not easy but possible to find some incredible deals, but it's not all money that comes from JLR.

As the guys said don't be afraid to buy from dealers further away, the shipping costs are not that significant if the dealer has the right car and price. I was shopping from Chicago to Florida and I am in New York.

15-20% below msrp I've had, but not below invoice, maybe that deals out there somewhere.

Thanks to everyone for their input! It helped to know which dealers to contact first, because (it sounds like) they typically have aggressive offers. Not wasting time on stingy dealers was nice.

So I just got my new Jag yesterday! I contacted several dealers, and managed to get Niello in Sacramento to match the best deal. They didn't put up any fight, really. Here's how it worked out, for anyone else in my position in the near-ish future:

- Almost $5k off MSRP (basically the exact invoice price)
- $5k incentive when leasing via US Bank (rather than Chase Bank, who Jag seems to use normally)
- 42 months, 12k miles/year
- Residual of 51%
- Money factor of 0.0012 (2.88%)

The best deal was first offered by Hornburg, and looked almost exactly like this.

Glad you saved yourself a long drive with a short phone call(s). Love having the world becoming a smaller place...opens up all kinds of options that help the consumer.

Indirectly. They asked where I got that offer, and for the VIN number on the car to which it applied. I told them it was a dealership in Newport Beach and gave the VIN as well.
