Loving my SVR
Had my SVR for a couple of months now and I am enjoying it. Was supposed to take 3-4 months to show up from but arrived in 2. So far it has been great cruising around. Still breaking in plus it have not had many days where the road are warm enough to see what it has. Snakes and cats seem to get along so far!

These cars are so different they are difficult to compare but here is my opinion on both:
Power: Although the cars are very close on power, (SVR 575hp/516t vs ACR 600hp/560t), they feel quite different. The SVR launches smooth, clean and under control. The ACR is wild, rough and scary (for the light of heart). The SVR wins the 0-60 with the automatic vs feathering the clutch to try and reduce the violent spinning of the ACR tires. The viper definitely wins the visual of the launch. The SVR wins hands down on exhaust tone. The viper has always had the UPS truck sounding V10. I do plan to add heads, cam and headers to help out but no amount of help will catch the SVR.
Handling: Take away the radio, carpet and hood insulation from the viper and you have a production race car. It handles on rails. You feel every bump and groove in the road. Add too much skinny pedal and you watch your *** pass you. An off the show room floor 2009 ACR set the Nürburgring record. The genius of the SVR comes through here as well. In normal mode it is quiet and smooth. Very responsive yet refined. With a push of a button it firms up and responds very close to the viper but always feeling under foot.
Interior: SVR is in a different class than the viper. The viper seats are very comfortable and keep you secure in high G track runs. The ACR AC works well but that is all there is. I never even try and turn on the radio. At the track you don’t have the AC on and are wrapped in exhaust that keeps you plenty warm. Viper exhaust runs down the side of your leg and out right behind your hip. The SVR just wraps you in luxury and fine fitment.
Exterior: Both cars have amazing styling. The SVR fit & finish and attention to higher end detail wins out here. My ACR is a 1 of 3 car as it is a stripe delete car. I was told it is 1 or 1 with the blue interior but I haven’t confirmed that. I love the look of both. The both look mean and angry.
Crowd Magnet: The ACR will stop traffic and every car I pass has the phone on record as I go by. I create a car show where ever I stop. The SVR has not been a slouch here either. I doubt that many people that see it even know what it is. I have had a few phones out of the window and 3 teens walking along the road just spun around and pointed.
I took my son for a ride with a few spirited runs and a 50 mile drive in the SVR. He stated that it was pretty much the perfect car. Luxurious with some killer power and a perfect exhaust note. He wanted to immediately go in the viper to compare. The first time I hit the throttle he almost jumped in the seat. I think we were still spinning a bit in 3rd gear. You cannot escape the raw power and feeling in the viper just as you cannot escape the luxury of the jag.
I actually sold one of my vipers to buy the SVR. Took my wife on a 60 mile shopping trip in my other viper. Loud, rough and I got yelled at when I launched the car a few times ( you gotta give the people what they want). Took her on the same trip in the SVR last week. Comfortable all of the way and I didn’t get yelled at when I launched the car a few times because it didn’t feel out of control.
My thoughts so far....

Great write up on the Viper Dave. A buddy has an SRT TA (I think that's the designation?). I feel like I'm working whenever I drive it. You know where every wheel is and what's under it. But... There's nothing like feeling the back end step out in the viper hard shifting into 3rd!
Nice shop.
Nice shop.
I would think you could do that with your V8S. Turn off the nannies.
It's pretty good with TracDSC and the VAP tune. But, as you know from your beast, the manual shift is a different animal.
Viperdave,
A friend has a 2013 Viper TA he bought for the track. Whereas the interior is vastly improved from previous Viper generations, the ride and the sound are just horrible, especially on the street. Your wife is a saint if she went anywhere with you for more than 5 minutes in the Viper.
Next week (hopefully) I finally get my '72 Pantera back with a 500+hp built 351 Cleveland engine transplant and fuel injection (got tired of dumping gas into the carb secondaries to get the car started if it wasn't driven every week), coilovers, and headers, that will make a sub 3000lb car scream (as if it wasn't loud enough beforehand)
Great collection and garage. I like the '69 Chevelle SS (much nicer imho than the '70 model) I have a '68 Goat undergoing a mild restoration right now. I think the '68-'69 GM midsizers (including the Olds 442 and the Buick Gran Sport) were the best designs GM has ever had. Enjoy your SVR (and everything else in that garage.)
