Default Making the f-type a little better?

Has anyone ever made the f-type “bulletproof” I mean by this like updating the y pipe to a metal one replacing plastic coolant pipes with metal ones maybe changing some other parts out? I’m buying a used f type and plan on kind of just going thru and making everything as reliable as it can be. I have worked on an xf v6 so I do know some things about the engine and supercharger but want to know what you guys have seen with your f types. Thanks!

Definitely changing the coolant pipes to the aluminum would be a good one to put on your list of to-do.

You are participating on a site that is dedicated to just that. Thing is, you have to do your own work by going through the archives and learning about all the issues. There are many knowledgeable people here and nearly an unlimited amount of information...soup to nuts. So, go for it!

The engine internals are pretty stout overall. It’s just annoying stuff like the timing chains, y-pipes, and injectors that fail. Replacing those things take care of 95% of issues people run into.

Is this not a PITA job to do though? Quite fancy it as a DIY job, but they the impression I’d be out of my depth and taking the car with a trunk full of bits to someone competent after the 2nd weekend at it.
