Default Matte Yellow F-Type R Coupe

I work at Galpin Jaguar in LA. A customer who bought one of our first R Coupes decided that he wanted his car to look different from any other F-Type on the road.

So he painted it matte yellow. That's not a wrap. That's paint.

And if I'm honest, I would have done a couple things differently..... (Paint calipers yellow, paint wheels all black, paint ring around the grill gloss black instead of yellow), but I actually kinda like it.

What do you think?

Personally i'm really not a fan of the McDonalds yellow...to be critically tough on it, i think it's hollow boldness: the super bright yellow tone, combined with the matte paint really obscure the distinctive lines of this car so it might as well be a Gallardo cheese wedge.

But one of the great things about the F-Type is, the car has so much natural proportionality that it's hard to go too wrong with any color and it's been really nice to see different owners take such different and expressive spins on the colors and options.....so while i wouldn't own this color, i'm sincerely glad that someone does, it really is strikingly different from any other coupe out there, and i really hope the owner drives that beast proudly!

Well that is one I'll be sure to keep an eye out for. I agree the matte color hides the lines but you can't say it doesn't stand out.

It's bright! Agree that black wheels with yellow calipers would look better. No need to extend the yellow any further.

I, too, have seen dealers/salespeople post inappropriately and I appreciate your kinds words. I've been reading this forum for a couple years, but only very recently started posting. I love reading people's impressions of the cars they own. Someday I'm sure I'll generate a few sales from posting here, but I'm just happy to be a part of a community of owners that is really positive and helpful towards each other.

I've noticed a number of requests for pictures of certain color combinations that are harder to find, so I plan on doing more of that when we have something unique show up. I have a Stratus Grey R Coupe on order with Black Pack (no exterior color restriction on Black Pack for 2015.5 MY orders) and Black Tornado Wheels that should be cool. I also have a Black Amethyst R Coupe with the Jet/Ivory Duotone interior that I'm really excited about

Looks sweet. I agree with your suggestions...

mparsons, do you also work in the Lotus department? Wondering if we met. I almost bought the GP edition Evora 2 years ago from Galpin. I've tested quite a few vehicles there, but still haven't managed a deal. Now that the F-type is my next on tap I'll probably be in again.

Lynx: That's me! I can sell anything at Galpin, but I'm a Jaguar/Lotus/Aston Martin specialist, so you've probably met me either at the dealership, or some other event we sponsor/display at. My name is Matthew if that rings a bell. I'm also down at the LA Auto Show with Aston Martin every year for 2 weeks.

Let me know when you want to come check out the F-Type. If you're after a coupe, we're sold out through August, but Jag just surprised us with a bonus V6S coupe and an R coupe that arrived today!

You might have been the guy I talked to. I'm really bad with names so it is hard to remember. You might though, I came through with my dad back in November and we went to the roof to look at all the convertibles you had in stock to compare interiors. We then got a quick tour of the Bond vault.

I'm looking to place an order for the R coupe in the fall, or pick one off the lot if it matches what I want. I'm still drawn to the Evora S though too.

I am sure the owner likes it and after all he is the only one who has to be happy with it. Matte finish is all the rage in the motorcycle world. Personally I think matte finish looks like crap. It looks like it was painted with a Krylon can. Matte finish is also difficult to maintain and keep looking good.

After the Brazil-Germany performance today I think it's time for this car to be repainted any color but yellow...

I don't hate it in any shape or form, the owner certainly achieved what he set out to do...have a car that stands out in a crowd and won't look like any other F-Type coupe on the road.

My guess is he won't have any trouble finding it in a crowded LA parking lot!

To paint this car like that is unforgivable when wraps are available.
IMO its like tattooing your face. You can dye your hair pink, but it will grow back.
