Default My First Jag Driving Impressions....

Just drove over 1000 miles to trade in my beloved my 2014 Corvette Z51 vert for a brand new 2017 F-type R vert.
Came within seconds from finalizing deal for new 2017 Corvette Z06 vert, to go from 460 hp to 650 hp, but deal fell through.
So although I didn't get the big jump from 460 to 650 hp of the Z06, I got halfway there at 550.
My wife loved this F type convertible's styling & upscale luxury.

Got a Great deal for a brand new F-type with 26 miles on odo, & a great price on my trade-in..

Driving impressions of the F-type on the 1000 miles back:
Although I loved driving Vette there for the first thousand miles, ave almost 30 mpg mostly freeway miles, since the V8 deactivates down to 4 on the freeway in Eco mode.
Driving the F-type back was also awesome. Ave 26+ mpg. Cruise controls works great. Strong AC. Awesome stereo system. Supportive seats. In dynamic mode, car handles great, super responsive. Exhaust note is comparable to or slightly better sounding than the Vette. Interior was very upcale, with full leather everywhere.
Looking forward to at least the next 5 yrs of spirited drivin'...

Welcome to the forum! Great color, you are gonna love the car. It is a great car as is, but you'll see from others on this forum there are some nice upgrades possible for these cars (exhaust, brakes, wheels, etc.) And nothing you need to hurry into, but when the time is right for $1000 (or under when on sale) a simple Velocity AP tune will safely get that beast to 605HP. Welcome to the world of the "British corvette".

Congratulations on your beautiful new car. I also came from a 2014 z51 coupe to a 2015 R coupe less than a year ago. Loved the vette and loving the R too. They are both fantastic cars although my wife much prefers to ride in the Jag. That is enough for me to give the nod to the Jag. I hope you have many miles of happy motoring.

Love the British Racing Green metallic ext & Black w/ ivory stitching interior. Extended leather package, so everything looks like real leather inside, so very much more upscale than my Vette's vast plastic & leather-like interior.
The only downside so far:
- no voice command
- can't program direct access to my fav music tracks on USB
- same for both my AM & FM stations on one same screen, instead of scrolling to diff pages/screens
- no place for my sunglasses
- sun visor can't swing to the sides
- haven't been able to remove the warning label on sun visor yet
- What? these Pirelli P-zeros are not run flat? & no spare?
- my wife complains about the defective engine that keeps turning off, until I explain to her that little button to shut off the Eco mode which supposed to save a little gas...then she says if she wants to save gas, we shoulda got a Tesla instead

Now that I had my local shop to install radar detector hard wire, tinnted windows, & I've re-customize my fav settings (garage, emblems, wheel locks, accessories...), looking to maybe exchanging my bright wheels to black wheels, & maybe power upgrade/tuning....

Welcome and congratulations, Navy Blue. Is your Jaguar BRG? Guess your 'vette might have been NB.
Re the visor labels, Tork Monster on this forum solved it with some decals. He had to buy a dozen to meet the custom order. I bought some from him, and they were perfect. Try a thread search.

Sunglasses - if you don't use the drink holders in the console just pull out the insert and line the hole with a piece of car carpet cut to shape, hey presto sun glasses storage cubby.
Sun visor labels - the secret is isopropyl alcohol, see this post: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...6/#post1670869. However it seems you have "extended leather" and therefore leather trimmed sun visors, in which case isopropyl alcohol may not be a good idea. Maybe find a hidden spot of leather trim to test first?
Sun visor doesn't swing to the side - yep, one of my pet peeves, I bought some visor material months ago with a plan to rig up a second visor on the roof above the driver's window but I haven't yet figured out a way to do it which is neat and clean and works.

Thanks for all the great suggs above.
I've ordered a set of black sun visor decals on Ebay.
I've pulled out the cup inserts & now have a great sunglass tray.
Thanks,

My impression is that sunglasses are meant to go in the cutout inside the driver-side door tray. The cutout is the perfect size for my sunglasses, so I’ve used it for that purpose from day 1.

My Ebay sun visor decal came today. Looks great installed.
It's a shame that I've paid big bucks for extended leather package that includes leather sun visor, then have a third of it covered up by that bright ugly warning decal...

Its like going from adolescence to maturity.
It will still take your breath away 5 years from now.
The subtleties will grow on you.

I like the trend of guys leaving Z51's and going to the F Type. Very encouraging to me! I'm starting to get sucked down the F Type vortex!! Good luck Navy Blue.

We had some go in the other direction as well. The seven speed MT on a V8 is a real draw.
