On the mirror adjusting front..Road and Track did an article a few years ago and the way to adjust was sort of simplified.....left mirror: put your head close to the side window and adjust the mirror to just see the side of the car. right mirror: move your head to the centre of the car and adjust the mirror to just see the side of the car.
Same result as the sae just a bit easier to do.
Great for the street, highway and HPDE days.

My post references that article & provided a link to it.

So I tried this.

a) it is so dangerous trying to figure out where to find the camera if you don't know where it immediately is. LOL my bad.

b) It provides a nice fisheye view of everything behind you, but there is no way it would be effective for merging because the fisheye makes the car that is *right* on your bumper look much further away than it actually is. IE, when you back up and get to the point where it is "red" warning you that you are about to hit something, the fisheye itself doesn't look like you are *absolutely* about to hit something..... but if you get out of the car and look at how close you are to hitting something, it's literally like an inch. The fisheye does not make it look nearly that close....

my estimation is that the fisheye would give a poor approximation of location of the car for merging.

As for viewing everything behind you, and particularly things coming at angles from the rear, it could be interesting.

Default Nav Voice

I just discovered that I can change the Nav voice to Male, which I did. I hate the female voice on Nav systems, probably because I hate following instructions from a woman.

In my XF she had a British accent, I liked it a lot and so did most of the male passengers. Women not so much. I wish they'd bring her voice back as a choice.

Convertible top down, car locked:

Glove Compartment and vertical storage automatically lock upon power down.

Convertible top up, car locked (whether windows are down or not):

Glove compartment and vertical storage are unlocked when the power is off, and you can access them.

That's a thoughtful distinction in design.

I use the clips to hold my insurance card. My wife's Range Rover Sport has the exact same clips in the console as well.

Interesting my centre console does not have those clips under the lid. Now the compartment back between the seats does have a little mesh pocket that would serve the same purpose for the registration and insurance card.

But more importantly I discovered that in the centre compartment is a CD player slot I honestly never realized was there! Guess it just confirms that I didn't buy the car for the meridian system. Of course it also means I need to explore more of this car that just the go go pedal.

I always assumed the clips were for a folded map.

I still have zero idea what those nodules are in the door compartment storage. Someone suggested it holds up a bottle of water quite nicely. I keep thinking they may be for sunglasses?

CD/DVD player:

It apparently can store up to 10 CDs. I haven't messed with that, but I do have Casino Royale in there, and will watch it if my wife is running in and out of a store or something. In absolutely terrible accident traffic (I mean no driving), we will put it on, and watch it. Video cuts out at 2mph or so, but sound is there.

We have a National Park road trip this year (speaking of traffic), and are bringing a bunch of appropriate movies that are wonderful to listen to. When you are stopped, it will play the movie. If you are driving, you can listen, but no video. Interstellar, Deadpool, etc. There's plenty that will be entertaining, that you don't need to watch. =)

I honestly didn't know that, but will see if mine reacts the same which I would have to assume it does. If it does I'm going to reach out to NAVTV out of Brooklyn and see if they make the connector which will allow the movie to play over 2 mph..

One cool thing I did notice is that they have a cell phone mirror option which appeals to me more because then anything on my phone can play on the factory OEM screen while playing through the stereo system. This will allow me to play youtube videos, Pandora music, movies from my phone. Thank you for posting this as I didn't even think of this.

Why not? I've always had that in my previous 4 vehicles all Escalades, but that was more of a luxury driver instead of fast car. Maybe I should pay more attention to the road than watch television. LOL

If you are stopped in a national park, you should be looking out the window...

I only saw last night the little emergency opener inside the hatch compartment. So I suppose that the car is no good for kidnappers.

I am pretty sure the little nodules in the door compartments are to make it easier to scoop change/coins out of there. It pushes the coins into your cupped palm rather than spilling over the edge and onto the floor. At least that is the only thing that makes sense to me.

I didn't know either of these items, but sure enough I pop in a DVD and the movie starts playing!

Then, I just uploaded ten of my favorite cd's (that aren't on my iPhone already). I thought it was a onesie CD player!

For those that have uploaded CDs, is the uploading very slow?

I've only uploaded in my XJ, but the technology and parts are the same. A full CD takes around 20 minutes, so much slower than ripping onto a PC. It does resume where it left off if you shut the car down mid-transfer though which is handy.
