Name Something You Discovered About Your F-Type AFTER You Bought it...
Despite spending many hours on this forum before I bought (2017 base/Premium/MT), somehow I missed the Clutch Saga. The selling dealer (high end import dealer but not JLR) was upfront about having replaced the clutch and dismissed it as an incompetent previous owner (26,000 miles) I had the work order and part number. Fortunately when I did buy the car and found out the clutch history here, I was able to ascertain that the selling dealer had indeed put in the correct replacement.
Also due to info on this forum, learned that my car should have ambient blue lighting in the door panels and in the center grab handle. Was able to provide JLR tech with the suggested fix and he got the module enabled.
Right/passenger side of car headlight assemble/panel misaligned. Found the two plugs in upper wheel arch, popped them out and found that the two fender bolts that should have been holding that fender/headlight assembly in place were not even there, and showed no signs of ever having been installed. Bought the bolts, got the panel/assembly aligned, tightened bolts. All good.
To prevent further/future misalignments of hood/bonnet, learned the correct way to close the hood/bonnet (Place hands on louvers, press down evenly.) also have started using this procedure on 2018 plastic car.
And most importantly, there is a SPECTACULAR Knowledge base on these forums (F and E), and am grateful for all the threads/posts.

After reading this entire thread, it became clear that these cars are owned by guys. Most of the "discoveries" in this thread are in the manual as standard features, and we all know that guys don't read manuals

From pg 67 of the 2015 Owners Manual: "The seat heaters will only operate when the engine is running." This makes sense, as the heaters probably take a lot of power and would otherwise quickly deplete the battery.
And if I recall correctly l, the tires were old and gave up traction.
How much I was going to love it! I bought this SVR without knowing anything about it. I needed to get rid of my 2015 Corvette, that had A8 transmission problems from the get go, and running out of warranty! This car was going to fit the bill, till I bought a C8 Corvette! Well, I am on a list for a C8, but I love this car sooo much. Time will tell!
I hadn't wanted to fire it up and leave it running, so that's when it donned on me...
...I immediately realized that it would lead to a dead battery. LOL
It's just that this thread is so superb, and I hadn't seen it in awhile and I rarely learn new things anymore! =)
Dear old me runs cold and I'll always start my car 5 minutes ahead of when I want to leave - that's if I know when I next want to leave and remember to set the wakeup timer within the 48 hours of turning the car off. Lovely toasty interior after 5 minutes, although it doesn't actually turn the seat heaters on!

That it needed a new catalytic converter.
(Fortunately, it was covered under the last year of the emissions system warranty (though I heard 02 sensors are covered for 11 years now).

I read through this entire thread and didn't see mentioned that the volume of the proximity warnings can be adjusted in the menus. That's good because my new-to-me-car had it set to maximum!
I feel a bit sheepish, but after 9 years I learned something as I was changing the clock for DST this weekend. (In a MY14, it's not automatic like newer ones.) Anyway, as I was adjusting the hour back, I noticed that the setup also has date - in your choice of format. I'm not sure it DOES anything, but I'm set.

Did you pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time, when setting the clock? (Or is it the other way 'round...I've given up trying to memorize the buttons that we need to press)
Did anyone notice that the manual closing trunk lid has soft-closing? I was surprised to see that I only need to lower the tailgate to touch the lock and it is quietly closing itself. I wish also the main doors would have had that.

I only just realised the other day that my car has lane monitoring. I've only had it since April 2016.
I wont be using it, but nice to know it is still delivering the goods all these years on.
