Need some help getting started with mods
I also don’t get the belly-aching about price - most of the cars I’ve had have had some kind of owners forum which I reviewed prior to purchasing. Knowing I am likely to modify a car makes these forums and the members who share their experiences valuable. Price/value is very subjective - each of our marginal utilities for goods is different and producer/retailers don’t know what each of ours is so goods end up being priced where they will clear the market (usually a point where some profit is made for the producer and the buyer feels that value meets or exceeds price). Economics lesson aside, I’m cheap - I think everything is expensive and outside of the days I am in the office, my attire can best be described as “homeless” (I’ve actually been homeless - so please save the commentary). My point is that I wear things well past their normal usable life because I hate spending money on that kind of stuff. However, I Ike cars, timepieces, writing instruments, a nice place to live, and knowing I save enough to retire without fear of living on cat food so I spend money on those things. I spent some time on this forum long before I pulled the trigger on my car; partially to help me decide between the f-type and other cars and part to get a feel for what I might like to do with the car and what it would cost. I factored all of that into my decision to purchase. I won’t harp on all my other cars and what they are and what I’ve done to them - it’s one thing to mention it to establish context, something else to mention it in every post as a way to ensure everyone knows you’re doing well, but I find some aftermarket goods to be reasonable and others not so much, but instead of making accusations and speaking out of school about R&D costs that I cannot substantiate, I either buy or keep moving. I spent years working with a team building an idea into a viable market-ready product - worked with experts who dedicated countless hours perfecting chemistry, applying for patents, and trying to generate enough capital to keep the concept moving without selling out completely. We all worked for free for a long time and it wasn’t easy so I have no problem knowing the value of my shares is the result of the company maximizing profits based on the demand. Simply stated, I show my preference by buying or not buying. If sellers don’t sell enough units - supply stays high and price goes down. Velocity AP prices seem to be pretty static; indicating that there is still a market at those levels. To be clear, I am not defending Velocity- I made one inquiry to them and never even received a response so I purchased goods from a competitor, but I do agree that there is no need to disparage them because of price. It’s not about being a snowflake - anyone who knows me is aware I don’t like sissy’s; I also don’t think unfounded statements about a retailers R&D or the price of aftermarket parts for other models of cars are relevant. I operate a small business (partially a hobby - I restore and collect acoustic drums) and I prefer to get the highest price the market will support. Some items are more common and I have to be at a certain sell price regardless of what I paid - any good deal maker knows that the money is never made on the sale, it’s made on the purchase. That said, I don’t feel bad if I make 100% profit on a couple items if someone’s willing to pay it. BTW, the $5 water bottle does not support your argument and represents an entirely different economic concept.

To the Admins:
I apologize in advance. However, sometimes you just got to call a ***** a *****.
Mr. ZO6:
Stop it, just stop it. You're behavior is quite rude and not constructive to the purpose of this forum. It's not about being a snowflake as seems to be your go-to insult. It's about just getting along with others. Most people learn those basics in kindergarten. I don't comment on here much, but I've read every post in this forum. Please work on your social skills and for the love of God man; enough with the ZO6. Everybody knows already!

Sorry to offend. I forget everyone is a special snowflake these days and no one is allowed to say anything disparaging about anyone. Yes, I get that R&D is a lot harder to recoup when you sell a lot fewer units. That's what tax write offs are for and why they say "expect to lose money the first 5 years". Let's be honest, now that R&D is done, it costs you $100 TOPS to crank out a pulley on the CNC machine and a tune is practically free at this point (though obviously I still expect to pay a few hundred for it).
So glad i don't have to deal with you in person. You're just constantly making poor assumptions about how a company runs its business with absolutely zero information other than the sticker price. You realize the tuner's time isn't free right? Stuart has to pay for that. And the tuner isn't just sending you an off-the-shelf map loaded on a device (that costs money); he's modifying your file from your ECU manually in accordance with the individual mods done to your vehicle. Oh an did I mention free re-tunes? You change a part and need a tweak? Free. Wanna change the pedal cal? Free. Continous improvements with new ideas/lessons learned by VAP? Free. Who else does that? I don't know who you think you're gonna get a cheap tune from, but I look foward to hearing about your catastrophic engine failure.

If you decide to return after the 7 Day Ban, I recommend you to think carefully before doing it again.
No one here is forcing you to buy anything. If you think it's overpriced then a thesis on your view of economics is not necessary - just go elsewhere.
