I was excited to read about this until: "Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV)" and "is fitted with a Gasoline Particulate Filter"

This is useless BS that adds weight and more things to break while making no difference to mileage or emissions outside of EPA testing. Plus turbo + Gasoline Particulate Filter makes it all but certain that all engine noises will be faked through speakers.

Do I see a yellow-handled DIPSTICK on that engine?

Here's another article on this new engine.

https://www.motoringresearch.com/car...1qNAi98Na8kZHE

I THINK I object to them referring to the present 6 and 8 cylinder engines as 'lumps'.

Any information whether it is direct injection or a combination of direct and port?

Aston Martin is developing a 1000 hp, naturally aspirated V12. That's an engine. Could be the last hurrah. Car will go for $3m plus. Engine is good for 62,000 miles. Expendable cash needed.

A $3M throwaway? Stupidity should be taxed.

Looks to me like a beautifully restored, box-stock XK w. triple SU's, in a gorgeous BRG E-type. Batteries? Turbos? Where??

Price and stupity are relative to how much money you have! Living in Vegas I can really tell stories of the stupdity I've seen in the casinos!

Sounds like they are using regenerative braking to charge a 48V battery that just runs the electric supercharger. But I dunno, maybe that 48V will be piped through the stereo amplifier to make the fake exhaust louder.

The thing I always loved about straight six engines, and I've worked on a bunch of them, was that it was always so much easier to access everything that needed worked on. Looking at the picture tho, I think that advantage has been completed negated.

The engine is also supposed to be part of the car's structure .

I’d love to see this in the F-Type if there’s a second generation.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my manual F-Type but ever since it came out I always wished it had an I6; though I’m curious how this will sound, the supercharged V6 sounds good.

With particulate filter and turbos it will sound any way you want it as it will all be fake noises through speakers.

I understand to a limited degree the affection for manual transmission having owned numerous vehicles with them.

The reasons that they're less common and are discontinued is primarily due to two factors, modern auto transmission have many advantages and less disadvantages compared to both manual transmission and older automatic transmission.

Additionally the F type manual has probably been discontinued for the same reason that XJ-S manual was discontinued in 1980 , five years after introduction and sixteen years before the XJS was discontinued, despite manual transmission fans being enthusiastic about them, insufficient numbers actually buy them !

+1. You have to be fairly unhingd to prefer continually stirring a stick.
