Actually, both meanings apply :

adverbadverb: fairly

properly, lawfully, legally, legitimately, licitly, by the book, in accordance with the rules, according to the rules; equally, the same; informalfairly and squarely
    "all pupils were treated fairly"
    antonyms:unfairly
  2. to quite a high degree."I was fairly certain she had nothing to do with the affair"synonyms:reasonably, passably, tolerably, satisfactorily, sufficiently, adequately, moderately, quite, rather, somewhat, relatively, comparatively; More
informalpretty, kind of, sort of, kinda, ish
"the pipes are in fairly good condition"

I know they can do all of that trickery but I’m taking in comparison to the V6.

The insufficient numbers is a chicken/egg issue...too many people want to be able to drive their new purchase home. Dealers won't stock the stick though. This is not unique to Jaguar. Thus the consumer takes what was available.

I've ordered vehicles with a manual and fortunately had dealerships that were ethical enough not to sell them to a higher bidder...each would have sold as it rolled off the delivery truck.

When dealers DO order an M/T for stock, too many add options that the purist has no interest in, which then compounds the problem related to take rates.
