Default No more V8S convertible

I see in the configurator that you can no longer get a V8S convertible. If you want a V8 convertible, you can only get an R AWD. They also took away a lot of the wheel options, including the default five spoke wheel which I think looks awesome, maybe the best, when moving.

As someone who just got his V8S convertible, I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I like the fun of a live RWD car, but on the other hand the AWD will certainly not lose traction as often, and perform better and safer in corners. The RWD is scary at times, actually quite often, as you do Hollywood-esque skids.

Overall though I'm guessing my car depreciated a little as a result of this switch (in addition to the $10,000 such $100,000 cars depreciate when you drive them off the lot).

But I'm glad they didn't put out a 4cylinder.

Edit: Wait, could this affect maintenance costs in any way, since the V8S engine is now rare?

The V8 engines are absolutely identical. The only difference is tune. Your engine is the mechanically same as that in the R, and if so desired can be tuned to about same 600+hp. As for depreciation, every 14 and 15 will suffer it when the new 16s hit the lot - R, V8S, V6S and V6. It's not worth even thinking about, it is what it is.

I also see that all R models now have the design pack, but instead of coloring the side skirts black, they color them the same color as the rest of the car. So all 2016 Rs will look lower to the ground than 2015 and earlier Rs.

I know. I don't really give a sh** I'm just f**king around. The HP on this car is already ridiculous and I'm only getting 8mpg in "average speed 10mph" LA traffic any way, and even when I have room on the roads, this car is too powerful and I can't really floor it.

I wonder if the exhausts sound different on the 16s. Wasn't the R supposed to have a slightly quieter exhaust than the V8S? Did they fix that?

They also took away the active sport exhaust option on the base model cars.

remains to be seen, I'm interested to see what they sound like on the 16s too. Bottom line, though, is I've had just the best year or so with my V8S. I'd not trade that time with the car for a year's wait without one for a few extra HP in the 16s. You can always wait for something newer/better, but quality time with what you have and can use today is well worth it.

It's only a tune for the extra hp. If you want it there will be places to do that for you. Jag might even offer it. Ultimately, you have the first year of a car that looks to be a very successful unit. When you watch Barrett-Jackson, the first year a car is offered and the last year they make them are always worth the most.
Drive it and enjoy it. You have an awesome car!

I don't think that would help him all that much. The V6 is plenty tail happy as well.

If you recall, he started with a v6 and traded it for a v8.

Even rarer since yours has the black centrifuge wheels which are NLA on the 16 base coupe

I don't think so, as Lunagry seems to be mistaken according to the ordering guide posted on another thread. It's now standard on the base manual and optional on the auto.
