FYI, it's a 4 year-old thread, and many of the posters are no longer active on the forum.

OK thanks DJS. I did notice this but was just hoping the originator might still be active. I have looked through all his posts and now found out that he had the ECU replaced under warranty. Thats not what I wanted to hear and fear I am about to be made bankrupt. Frustrating thing is that I originally raised the problem some time ago with Jaguar and even mentioned the light, but they said they could find no fault with the battery or charging system and said they couldnt replicate the light problem. Now out of warranty and I find someone else with the same issue and an expensive fix.

Thanks

The warranty will cover it if you can document with the work order that you brought it to the dealer’s attention within the warranty period.

Did you try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect?

Hi Frank here, recent owner my16 s coupe (storm grey with brogue interior), my battery died 5 days after purchase. Dealer installed new battery and when returned I hooked up a c tek mxs 5.0 with pig tails attached to appropriate points and connected to outlet when in garage. Battery is always fully charged! After owning a 63 e type coupe for 21 years (52,000 miles driven) and loving it, I have to say I love this f type and it’s just as beautiful as the e type in a contemporary way, and my wife loves this Jag. She’s busy plotting new getaways with this Jag. Battery maintenance is the way to go.

You might consider if you could just disconnect the light, if it looks like it would be expensive.

While I wouldn't disagree, there is a potential snag in that if you do have a(n admittedly rare) battery drain issue you won't notice it until you go for a long drive with no charger at the other end - then the next morning, you have a flat battery.

+1. If everything is working properly, there is no reason to rely on a battery tender other than to extend battery life. I’ve left the car sitting for weeks at a time when on long trips with no battery drain.
