Default OEM Driveshaft weight

If anybody would be that helpful and find out or measure OEM driveshaft weight for RWD V6S (or V8) F-type, I would ask a shop for a possibility to manufacture custom one from carbon fibre for weight savings and smoothness.
I need a weight for the whole shaft (I guess 2-piece), including the middle joint-chasis support, because the custom one will be 1-piece and this support has to be removed.

Thanks!

Do you have a weight on the proposed carbon shaft?

Well thats a chicken-egg problem, I need the original part to estimate the CF weight and the project sustainbility. If it is a steel one there will be significant weight savings, but if it is an aluminium one then there is problably no need to do CF.

But to give you an estimate, on my previous GT86 CF shaft was reducing from 24 (OEM) to 12 lbs and on Mustangs it is said it goes from 38 to 23 lbs approx. Since the power of F-type is more in the mustang territory, I am assuming that the weight savings would be around 15-20 lbs mark, but take this with a grain of salt right now. Remember that it is a rotational mass, but yeah rotational with very small diameter.

There is lots of give in my driveshaft at the moment and its in need of replacing with the replacement arriving at the dealer by next week. If you can wait another week or so, I’ll try and measure the weight of the old unit once its out.

Would love to send it across to you as a donor unit but I’m probably around half the world away in Dubai

That would be great, no hurry! If you could also measure the lenght between both joints in the car that would be perfect! I mean if you imagine straight distance between the gearbox and the diff.

If you're wondering if it's steel versus aluminum, there's a simple bit of magic you can use. Magnets are magic, right?

I could check with a magnet without removing the part. I don't think I could weigh it while it's installed ;^)

Easy, just weigh the car, then subtract the weight of the other parts.

What about the weight of all the french fries under the passenger seat?

(No, not my car. No food allowed. When I was a mechanic though, this was a source of aggravation.)
