Default OEM Rotors and Pads vs Stoptech

I'm just over 60k miles, and my rotors seem to have a decent lip on them and braking feels a bit softer from when I remember getting the car at 45k miles. My brake wear indicators have not activated yet though.

I have the super performance brakes (380mm fronts, 376 rears).

The rough math of it is, parts before labor for OEM Front and Rear Rotors and Pads and sensors are: ~$2,700 compared to a stoptech setup (Stoptech 934.20010) for ~$1,000. https://www.buybrakes.com/stoptech-9...-and-rotor-kit

My OEM rotors show no rust and all the stoptech rotors reviews seem to show a lot of rust where the pad does not make contact.

In short I'm not looking for better performance, just equal performance at lower price and certainly don't want rusty rotors ruining the look of the car. If I should be looking at other brakes altogether, I'm totally open to it.

They should be OK, my main worry would be rust on the hats/inners and/or outer edges.
Judging by the pics in the linked add the hats and inners are coated/painted and it would be an easy job to put some gloss black caliper paint on the outer edges before you fit them.
Many here have bought R1 Concepts rotors for their XFR, XJR, XKR etc, they are the exact same 380 mm front and 376 mm rear as the F-Type, and all have been happy with them.
Lots of us with F-Types including me have also bought Porterfield R4S pads - carbon/kevlar as opposed to ceramic - and again a bunch of happy customers. They perform at least as well as OEM and are smooth, quiet and waaaay less dust.
My second worry with the linked listing is the pads may not be true "low dust" ceramics, I for one have bought pads as part of a rotors and pads kit which were advertised as ceramic but turned out to be Centric PosiQuiet semi metallic - not a bad pad but still fairly dusty and noisy like OEM.
My third worry would be the rear pads - the F-Type has quite different rear pads to the XFR and early XJR so I would make double sure they really are the F-Type pads before I plonked my cash down - maybe ask them to send you a pic of the rear pad(s) and post it up here, I can easily spot the difference.
But after all that don't waste your money on the massively overpriced and massively dusty OEM rotors/pads.

Thanks for the fast reply.

The R1s seem to also lack the paint protection, but I see that might be due to the coating that prevents the rusting.

I've seen the threads related to the brake pads you mentioned.https://www.velocityap.com/product/j...front-ap-1750/

It was just my thinking it would be better to stick with same pads and rotor brand as they seem like they would be designed to work together in both fit and material interaction.

So for the R1 Carbon GEOMET ® Series Rotors + Optimum OEp Pads, which by the way seem even less than the stoptechs.

Also, it might help to mention while I'm fine with sourcing the parts, I will be having my shop fit them so I'm looking to keep it simple as well.

I have to say, that aside from the while drilled, slotted, variations, these brake manufactures are hirable at ranking their own products in simple: good, better, best), or commute, performance, race.

Just glad I don't need to replace a set of carbon ceramic brakes!

For about the same price as the OEM replacements, you could get a set of Wortec two piece rotors (see Wortec thread). About 40 pounds lighter in aggregate, cooler operation, and they look so much better than the OEM trash can lids.

I recently bought R1 Concepts drilled and slotted rotors along with brake pads for my XKR. They feel great, look terrific, and are far superior to other aftermarket rotors I have purchased in the past including those from StopTech. Their pricing which included rotors and pads was very reasonable and they eliminated all shimmying that I had with my previous rotors from day one. Their customer service was also top notch. Highly recommended.

Cool. But more aggressive looking than I'm going for. Thanks for the info though.

How was the rust on the disk surface where the brakes were not cleaning it?

I've not noticed rust as an issue.

Wow, R1 rotors, pads, sensors and slides for under 500.00 USD for all four corners. That’s a great price compared to OEM.
