As close to a 50/50 split of coupe/convertible as you could get with an odd number.

GRIN...I thought this was going to be one of those "Why do other cars always park so close to mine" postings...

Bloody hell, I thought F-Type drivers knew how to park but how wrong I was!
Only one out of 13 is parked correctly, the other 12 are all incorrect and/or illegal!

The obsessive-compulsive in me wants to move that grey convertible on the far right to the other side of the white convertible.

Well it helps when you have special dispensation from the authorities!

That was my first thought, too!

…and for better or for worse, most of the town was still sleeping.

A separate thread will appear in the near future with many more pictures and videos. For newcomers, this was an annual get together in Maine, hosted by a Maine resident who’s been both generous enough and crazy enough to do 8 of these invitation-only events (and I’ve been extra-lucky enough to have done all of them). Links to previous events will be in the other thread eventually.

A few more teasers…

Yup. However, it was trying to rain, with around a 20MPH crosswind. Not bad for “let’s park and get in the restaurant!” I was pleased the little drone didn’t blow out to sea, but we can discuss that later in the other thread for anyone interested.

I will quickly chime in—before I chime out—that the decision to park like that, at Cook’s Lobster & Ale House on Bailey Island, Maine literally came to me as I was pulling up to the “barricaded” parking area just for us. I thought it might be nice to park in a different manner than we have in the past. So considering that idea came to me literally on-the-spot, and trying to assemble and park the cars quickly, and get into the restaurant, I’d say that that parking arrangement (which I have always prided myself on, despite the challenges of everyone following my “instructions”—never mind the amazing drone shots taken by DJS) I’d say that’s pretty damn good.

And if just two parking “arrangements” provoked such comments already, just wait until you see photos of one of the arrangements I intentionally made in Portland! I guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it.

I am waiting for our SUPER MOD, GGG, to give me the OK to post my “With Thanks & Gratitude”—he’ll give me the OK to start the thread—at which time he will include what I have written. He graciously “built” the post to appear in a certain way—including links to all the places we went—and once that is posted I will make some tweaks to it. I will also likely follow it up with a post or two which might interest others; especially those who were not with us on this, my final, event.

[re] the “other” parking situation: the philosophy there was to be able to park all of our cars in front of Broadway Delicatessan in Brunswick, Maine—all 14 of us…one guy forgot his glasses at the hotel and had to go back to get them; despite there only being parking for 9—which basically necessitated parking outside the lines. Which I always recommend, in life and parking.

My car is second from the front. Unfortunately our “Official” photographer DJS didn’t catch when I backed up, floored it, crashed through the guardrail, and jumped onto the roof of the building on the right. Luckily, I made it back to our original “chaotic” parking spaces before it was time to move on.

That is literally how I parked my hot wheels back in the day (on top of that two story plastic garage thing).

Naturally, upon seeing these photographs of our intentionally chaotic (real life) parking—life imitates art and vice versa—evokes images and memories of Hot Wheels, Match Box, etc.. Thanks to you and your post you not only solidify that image but confirm it. One of the secrets of life: think and stay young.

🙏

And do stupid things (but not too stupid).
