I've got a 2017 Base. When I'm in Drive (and not Sport), pushing the shifter forward shifts the transmission into Neutral. This is without pushing the trigger button. The car should disregard the shift. Makes getting road head a real hassle.

Mine is the same, and I'm pretty sure it's normal, they all do it and it's meant to work that way.
I like it, as I still have a little bit of the "head bob" and "brake graunch" just as I come to a dead stop, and shifting into N just before I stop completely eliminates this, resulting in a perfectly smooth and quiet stop. I don't do it all the time, only when I know I will be stopped for a while.
I wish it worked the other direction as well, ie no need to press the button to shift from N to D, but obviously it must be the way it is for safety reasons.
That said, if you don't want this to happen why are you pushing the shifter forward anyway? Or are you talking about accidentally bumping it?

I think that you should have to push the button to shift from Drive to Neutral, especially when the car is moving.

I like to shift using the sequential shifter in Sport, and sometimes I forget that I have shifted back to Drive, and instinctively push the shifter to downshift, ending up in Neutral.

First day driving my 3 day old 2017 F-type Base convertible the Neutral thing happened to me
I think it may have happened twice.
Darn that engine revved up.

Default Magic Windshield Wipers?

My windshield wipers have a mind of their own. My wipers turn on, wipe the window once and turn off. This happens maybe about once out of every five times I turn my car on to go for a drive.

Anyone else have this issue?

Oh, and I'm NOT hitting the wiper lever by accident..

Presumably, you have it in auto mode - I leave mine that way, as it almost never comes on when it shouldn't. One more click should turn it off completely.

You will know the Auto setting is on when you first start the car. The wipers will make one pass at startup.

Interesting: in auto, mine won't do that unless there's condensation on the windshield.

+1. Although I keep the sensitivity turned down, might be that it does that if it's turned up.

Mine don't do that, but they will make a pass at start up if there's enough dust / pollen on the sensor.

Default My magic wipers

Thanks for all the good ideas.

My windows are always spotless, so the sensor shouldn't be an issue and it only happens some of the time.

BUT, I do have it set in the auto mode!

So, I clicked it to the full OFF position.

I'm hopeful and think this will resolve my problem!!

Thanks again for all the input from you guys.

3. Passenger side hood latch isn't latching/locking, possible cause of misaligned hood over a 1/2".

my warranty period is wrapping up i need to get it in. Any other bulletins i should bring up while at the dealership?
Other then that, an absolutely amazing driving experience.

Just an update: JLA took care of all issues and much more. Must say i am a happy with the F-Type once again.

Default Faulty headlights 2014 V8S

I purchased my 2014 V8S December of 2017 with 26k miles on the odometer. The car was running great. However, as of yesterday the headlights began flickering and now my passenger side headlight is off and my driver side headlight turns on and off every few seconds. Also, the ECO mode has not been working. Car is always on even though the ECO light is on and is also indicated on the dash. The car now has just over 28k miles.

Has anyone had any issues similar to mine?

Regarding the headlights, it sounds like a harness connector has come loose.

And regarding ECO not working, it's possible the previous owner disconnected the 2nd battery under the trunk, which is one way to disable ECO permanently on 2014s.

I went ahead and took the car into the dealership on Friday. A few days later i get a call from the service advisor informing me of some of the faults. He said both headlight bulbs burnt out . The reason was due to a module which causes one headlight to compensate for the other, therefore straining the remaining bulb and burning it out shortly after....this didnt make sense to me what so ever, but please enlighten me if i am mistaken for thinking otherwise.

As far as the ECO issue, the battery was rhe culprit. He said it wasnt holding the required charge for the system to work properly, therefore the battery is being replaced as well.

in a side note, i informed them of a slight ticking sound ehich appeared at around 250p rpm. I duplicated the sound with a tech in the passenger seat and he said "that doesnt sound normal, but to be honest I've never heard that before." It was a faint tick, but it was bothering me, so i figured I'd bring it up to them. 3 days later i get a call informing me that they would be replacing the supercharger as well as the water pump.... needlessto say, the car is still being worked on.

Thankfully everything is being covered under warranty...but im worried that once the warranty is up, these will be issues that will have to be fixed out of pocket...specially the supercharger fix...

ill keep everyone updated on the matter.

Dave

Hey Dave, can you hear the ticking noise from the drivers seat or do you have to stick your head under the hood?

What engine do you have? I have the 6S and is makes a lot of mechanical noise.

Thanks

Good afternoon everyone.
im en route to pick up the car now. Really hoping its all been sorted out.

As far as the ticking noise, it was easily detectable at 2500 rpm, with the soft top up, from either seat in the cabin.

Hope that helps.

Dave

Hi folks,

Got a quick but important question regarding the safety features of the 2018 F-type 340 hp. Does this model comes equipped with the Automatic Emergency Break ? The manual seems to be very vague but I have seen references that claim it is a standard feature on the 2018 model. I couldn't find much about this one.

Any input is much appreciated.
