Default Oil Consumption F Type R

I am burning approximately 1 liter of Oil every 800-900 miles. This is during the break in period, but seems excessive. The sensor reads at the mid-point. I've already added 1 liter 900 miles ago. I'd like to get feedback on this. My '15 R never needed to add Oil between Oil Changes. Thanks in advance.

My '14 S does not use any oil even with 8000 miles since the last change. Your consumption seems really large - maybe even outside of tolerance.

I can't comment personally on running in (break in) as I bought mine with 9000 miles on it.
My recollection of conversation on this forum is that most owners report little or no oil usage between services (12 months or 16000 miles), my experience is that my F type does need topping up from time to time, but I do check oil level at least weekly or before a long journey. I believe lots of higher rpm usage will increase oil consumption on most cars including F type.

That said 900 miles per.litre does seem excessive if it was correctly filled at the beginning, my experience would be approximately 1 litre over 16000 miles.

I assume you have checked to rule out an oil leak.

I'd second the suggestion to look for an oil leak. Apart from a VW Golf some decades ago the only car I've ever had that needed topping up between services turned out to have a leaky oil pump gasket. Once fixed, no top-ups needed.

No oil burning, what you experience is not normal. Don't trust dealership trying to talk BS to you about it.

Just a note that the middle line of the "ok" range is a quart low. The bottom of the range is 2 qts low.

I should have said the sensor reads a liter low every 900 miles, which is the middle hash mark. Will bring it in to investigate further. Thanks for the feedback.

+1 to all comments. That loss is excessive under any circumstance.
