Default Only 1 Year of Warranty......

Would you buy a low miles F-Type that only has 1 year of factory warranty remaining?

This particular SVR is documented with low miles, but the fact that there is very little warranty left is a pretty scary proposition.

I don’t trust the aftermarket “3rd party warranty” aka service contracts that are just looking for an excuse to deny coverage, so that’s probably not going to happen. It’s not being sold by a Jaguar dealer, so I’m guessing there is no way to get a factory warranty extension.

I won’t be putting a lot of miles on the car, much more concerned about length of time for the warranty. I know odds are that nothing will happen, but you never know.

So, presumably you are looking at a 2017MY? Do you have any service records or is mileage so low that it has never been to the dealer for service.
If it still under warranty, you may still be bale to get it serviced FoC by a JLR dealer (60 months). That would be a good opportunity to get it checked over.
Depending on mileage and condition, youmay then be able to pay for the CPO and get another 2 years of warranty (you pay for it).
What is the model and what is the mileage?

If you are never going to do a 3rd party warranty (and I'm not recommending you do), then at some point any car you buy used will be out of warranty. Yes, Jaguar maintenance is going to be higher than Corvette maintenance. If the maintenance is a concern, then it might be better for you to hang onto the Vette for a little while longer. There will be routine things that need to happen on the F-Type (like the super-charger belt at 6 years, etc). These aren't terribly expensive but they aren't cheap maintenance items but they will be required.

There is a reason I've never purchased a Ferrari 355. The maintenance is well beyond anything I would want to deal with... You just need to decide for you where your limit is and if the F-Type will be within those boundaries.

I'm was in the same boat as you. I bought a used 2017 in February of 2021 with 24,000 miles. Factory warranty expires 11/2022 and I have another year on top of that as mine is CPO'd. I drive my F-TYPE 5 days a week about 80 miles a day. I figured with that mileage that if something will break it will be within that time frame.

Check the Carfax. Does the mileage match the service? If you have a good JLR dealer, take it in and have them run diagnostics. Hopefully, all the suggested services were done. I bought a 2017 in Oct of 2020 and it has worked out well. The car wasn't abused and runs great. Minor issue with battery not charging, but covered under warranty. Have a savings account for "reserves for replacement" , hope I don't have to use it (much).

Well, the search continues.........

This particular car even though documented, was 6 hrs away and the dealer (not a Jag dealer) starting getting shady. Instant run, don’t walk away for me.

There are more SVR’s out there somewhere. I’m guessing that because no new cars are available, no one is trading in used ones, so it’s slim pickings right now.

Trouble is that it's now 2018s coming off leave and there were far fewer 2018 SVRs. But - they will come up. So I'd suggest taking your time and getting the right one for you. But set up all the alerts nationally on the various car reseller platforms - and be ready to pounce when the right one comes up!

Bad enough when a local dealer starts playing games, but when you have to do things remotely you definitely want to have confidence in the car and the dealer because it can be a big headache to resolves issues later.
