Default Options instead of Ceramic Brakes...?

Luv the performance of my current R vert.
Looking at my replacement for another R in a few years.
So for those who currently has the $12,240 ceramic brakes options, can u pls tell me the performance increases of those ceramic brakes over my current factory brakes?
Mine's a daily driver, with no intention of ever going to the track nor autocross racing, etc., so How much better braking performance for $12K?

Or spend it on other performance items, like more free flowing intakes or exhaust, etc
Or if Jag offers a twin turbo option for extra hp for about the same or half the price of the ceramic brakes.

Thoughts...?

Why would you pay 12k to go slower?

FWIW, it's tires that stop the car. Your brakes can't stop a car any faster than tires will allow. What changes with different brake packages is around heat dissipation, initial bite, and longevity of components.

I saw it here but don’t know where to find it: They did a big brake test with the R brakes and the ceramic brakes. The R performed better in general with less braking distance especially when the ceramic brakes were cold. And for regular driving they will often be cold. What’s good about them is that they last longer, have no brake dust etc.

I think the short answer is "no."

If you're tracking the car the ceramic brakes should handle the intense heat better. For everyday driving, better performance on cold brakes is a pretty big benefit.

And some have had to replace pads/rotors much sooner than expected, and at significant expense.

I would also add that you could use that 12K to get better brake pads and rotors at a fraction of the cost of ceramics, and have an even better daily driver out of it. Spend the savings on tuning and maybe speakers (I HATE the sound system OMG).

Don't go ceramic EVER!

Anyone knows what are the exact stopping distances of stock R brakes vs R ceramics?
same for S stock vs S ceramics?
ie: how many feet shorter from 65 mph, etc. with ceramics vs stock?

Curious as of what % of F-types sold with ceramics brakes option?

Ceramics do save you about 40 lbs over the steel brakes and the rotors look better. Worth $12,000, not for a street car.

For me it was simply I think they look fantastic and no brake dust. I got my car CPO’d and when buying a used one the original owner takes the hit on them. My car was no more than one without them. As noted parts are expensive so I guess that comes down to your means. For normal street driving they should last forever. The performance comments above are also correct. Really nice initial bite and when its cold they drop in performance until they get some heat. For some reason when I wash the car when I take it for a drive the first stop (usually at the end of the driveway) they are weak. Then they are perfect. Not sure why. So from a performance standpoint on the track no fade all day. Personally I don’t mess with my cars performance. I don’t think it needs it and what would I do with it anyway. The ceramics look beautiful!! I love them.

I was on the fence with brakes when we specced our car - The guys that work for Jaguar as proving drivers at Milbrook test circuit told me that the Carbon brakes were simply not needed over the steel High Performance brakes. They really do push the cars to the limits for hours and hours. That was enough reason for me not to buy them!
They do look nice though.

Fit Mich PS4's and a set of RS4 Porterfields, job done!

Ceramics don’t grip at all when wet. Once they’re heated up, they should stay dry even in heavy rain.

Exactly. Other than that I think they are fantastic. Mine do not make any noise either. Happy camper.

I would also add that stainless steel braided lines (I assume the F Type uses rubber) and high temp brake fluid all help with the brake feel for casual performance driving without breaking the bank. Not a bad thing to consider as well as aftermarket pads!

I did do a track day and wish I had made these upgrades, as later in the day when it got much warmer out, I definitely started feeling brake fade....

It's all about perception. Talk to the Porsche guys about paying high prices for useless "stuff"! The $12k not only gets you the ceramic brakes but also a stunning set of wheels, (only available with the package). Plus the look of the ceramic brakes (larger than R brakes and yellow calipers). Also NO dust..!

Get a set of Wortec rotors to go with this setup.
