Default Ceramic brake options for 15 XF 5.0 Supercharged (should be the same as the XFR

Looking at swapping out my pads for something with less dust. I can't seem to find any pads that fit the rear other than EBCs (which I'm not a huge fan of). Anybody know of another brand that works in the rear like Akebono that I'm just not finding a listing for. Never noticed any obvious dust on my rims with ceramic in the past but now I have black rims so curious if anyone has found ceramics to be as dusty with black rims as standard semi metallics.

I fitted Porterfield R4-S brake pads to the F-Type nine months ago now and they are great - very low dust, no squeal, good progressive pedal feel and performance at least the equal of the OEM pads if not better. They are also a bit cheaper than EBC.
Heaps of F-Type owners have now fitted them and not a single complaint so far.
They are not ceramic, instead they are "carbon/kevlar", but they work very much the same as ceramic pads.
The US distributor is LPI Racing, see this page for the list of 2105 XF pads: https://www.lpiracing.com/showsearch...r=2015&submit=
If you have the 380 mm front and 376 mm rear brakes then you want the last two listings on that page, AP 1448 for the front and AP 1449 for the rear.
If in doubt and/or to confirm give Monty a call on (406) 420 2400.
Also, even though most F-Types have the same 376 mm rear brakes as the XFR they are not the same pads, so don't go getting F-Type rear pads. The front 380 mm pads are identical though.

I have the EBC reds on my 2010 XF 5.0 SC and been very happy with them. Low dust, quiet, good performance. As you say they are also readily available for our cars

I recently put Porterfield R4-S pads on my XFR, and I am loving it so far. Much lower dust without sacrifice of the brake feel. I would add that it has reduced the low speed jerkiness with braking, and it is much easier to drive smoothly in stop and go traffic.

Okay so still haven't bought anything but stumbled upon TRW Ceramic Pads TPC1448 and 1449 look to be what I would need. Price is great at about $100 for front and rears esp as I am not sure how much better they will be with my gloss black rims dust wise.

Please let us know how you go Trevor, as this would make another addition to the extremely limited options of ceramic brake pads for the XFR. The F-Type guys would be interested as well, especially if they also do the "special" rear pads for the F-Type. Even better, TRW are OEM suppliers to JLR so they should be "perfect".
The only downside is they may not be true ceramic, many pads are advertised as ceramic when they are not. The easiest ways to tell are brake dust and grabbiness, true ceramics (at least the non-track versions) are very low dust and no grabbiness.

Will do, I will probably go that direction as I can get 'em from amazon and if they don't look like they are ceramics they will go back. Will likely do when weather gets cooler. I'm not one who needs insanely strong brakes for my driving so the track inspired versions are a bit of overkill. I would think I can remove the front calipers and still brake better than my TVR and could probably brake nearly as good one rear caliper then our motorhome. I was still riding as a daily rider a cable action drum brake cycle up until about 6 years ago.

Well I now have about 120 miles on the TRW 1448 and 1449 and while they aren't an Akebono they are a pretty nice, low dust pad so far. Well a bag of saw dust would be considered low dust next to the stock pad. Pretty nice bite, no noticable fade. I was a bit concerned when I got 'em as the compound looks a little "open" as in lots of air pockets but so far so good. Very nicely made pad. Prices seem to be across the board but I bought via ebay and for $105 shipped replaced the fronts and rears. Anybody wanna buy my stock pads. Only 1000 miles on 'em.
