I think it could be worth it to get the R depending on your goals. This car has the suspension of the SVR plus plus due to the rear knuckle changes or whatever…That’s gotta count for something over the non-R in the minds of some.

I am VERY passionate about the F-Type and wanted the highest trim variant available for the last year of production without needing to mess around with tuning etc…That’s just me…I like some of the exterior look differences as well that the R brings in the front and back…I am keeping this car for a long time so averaged out over the years to come the difference isn’t really that large…

Buying a car like this brand new is not exactly a budget purchase to begin with so for me splitting hairs over trim level is not really gonna get ya anywhere in the end anyway…Just my thoughts, but I respect that some may not view the R as worth it depending on their goals etc…I get it…
This is exactly what I was thinking when I purchased my 2023 R new. When I found out the last Jag ICE V8 sports coupe was going the way of the dodo bird, I had to get one, and wanted every option that was possibly available for the car (in BRG). I wasn’t buying on a budget, but this is the way I’m wired. Right or wrong, despite the car being a keeper for me, my head always goes to resale being easier if it’s loaded up and has the bigger motor/most power available. I considered my self lucky because my dealer had both a Coupe and a Convertible R fully loaded in BRG available. My only choice was just that Coupe or Vert.

All I can tell you is that this new gen R with the SVR suspension setup and revised knuckles, along with the sport suspension mode enabled, is on rails. It handles VERY well. The only issue is when in that sport mode it does ride rougher with the stock tires. Some say it’s the stock tires, and that upgrading to the Michelin tires makes it much better. I look forward to changing the tires and getting that benefit,

Perhaps people are making these statements about the v6 vs the prev gen f-type v8 that does not have as good of a setup. It’s honestly hard to imagine it being better than what I experience with my 2024 R. When not in sport suspension mode there is body roll and more comfort, but in sport it is amazing.
I did end up changing out the stock tires, choosing to leave them on the factory rims when I switched those out. On the advice of the speed shop I purchased my rims from, I went to Yokohama Advan Neova ADO9’s. They’re excellent tires and an upgrade from stock IMO.

Its this type of information I came seeking! Slightly off topic but, do you know if there is much a difference between a P525 and a P575 as far as the engine itself? I bought one last night in the L663 chassis and am already trying to figure out the tuning options for it based on other builds.

Then again the other cars in my yard include a mk2 Audi TTS which has some VW Mk6 Golf R parts as well as widebody GR86 which has BRZ parts on it... and this P525 is to replace my Model X Plaid.

For what its worth, I joined these forums just for the opportunity to ask you this

1. Is it worth the price difference for a P575 vs a P450?

2. I can get a P450 with AwD is that worth it, or is it better to stay with a RWD car?

im just trying to figure out the major differences and if its worth the extra money or should I just upgrade later?

I have a 2000 XKR and don’t have issues with modifying.
I have a 2022 F Type R 575 in British Racing Green and its a roadster.
The extra power and the AWD really help with the launch, cornering and handling.
The additional power is useable and noticeable. .
So I'm suggesting the 575 is a great choice

I definitely agree. For street driving it’s really maximal torque that I’m looking for. Don’t really care about 575 vs 444 hp, top speed, etc…

So for me the preferable path to high torque is going stock and not messing with warranties…I just didn’t want those sorts of considerations on the table. Others don’t care about that and feel that it is worth the savings to tune up after purchase. Both are legit approaches obviously depending on your budget and risk tolerance.

Tuning these things does seem to come at quite a bargain, and it seems that people aren’t experiencing any problem with VAP tunes or similar? It seems like a good option for sure…The advantage of dealing with a reputable company like VAP I guess.

. I agree I have seen lower pulleys for sale and also two pulley kits. But right now Im very happy with the factory torque/hp . This car exudes character and performance standing still. If I had twice the jing, I might have considered a 911 S. But I cxhose this car and this price point for which I COULD have had a C8 or a plain 718 . Neither car rings all the bells for me. I saw a green E Type convertible on the infield at Bridgehampton , NY at a Trans Am race event. It was perfect. As the F Type carries that moniker as a descendant, I believe it adds alot of panache to the ownership experience. They build the darn things at Castle Bromwich WHICH was a SuperMarine Spitfire factory during WWII for crying out loud. Gotta go with that character......Best

Different strokes for different folks. I looked at a few cars and for me it was down to a 2024 Carerra S or a 2024 F-type R. Despite the Porsche being the one on my wall in my younger years we all gotta grow up sometime ;-0. I consciously chose the Jag over the Porsche. This was purely an emotional purchase that was not meant to be pragmatic in any way. I bought the car to meet my car interests/passion only. It had nothing to do with depreciation, or anything else.

Either was doable but the F-type R was the one that won me over in the end. I had the added benefit of a friend that has a 992 Carerra S, so I had that advantage of seeing what they’re like beyond a simple test drive.

The drama the F-type brings compared to that car is just immense for me, and in terms of a road car…The F-type R is a better GT. For sure. It’s perfect. Rides beautifully in comfort and handles like it’s on rails in sport (although a little rougher than I’d like with the stock tires, apparently greatly improved with the Michelins). Perfect balance. That’s not even talking about looks. I am a fan of the classic Porsche 911 shape, but objectively the F-type is more beautiful to me. So that doesn’t hurt ;-0

As for the C8…The base car makes me wanna puke, I can’t stand looking at them…Their proportions are way off and it’s a plasticky design disaster that will not stand the test of time. Oddly the Z06 does appeal to me a lot more given the engine and the proportions change, but still not something I would consider…A little too boy racer for me ;-o Still find it impressive though…I also have concerns about the problems with those corvettes. 4 to 5 years into production and there are numerous issues still unaddressed by GM, and they’re dropping transmission quite a lot.

All this to say, you made a great choice sir ;-0 It will stand the test of time and won’t be a dime a dozen like a C8 10 years from now.

now you can all hate me for it, but I’m having the doors painted to remove the number circle - but that’s a personal choice. I’m going to drive it and enjoy it. Not track it

So, did you end up painting the doors in the end? I hate those dots too but if I was gonna commit to paying that kind of money for this type of low production car I would have probably just left it alone. But I understand your impulse to do that for sure…

I also can’t stand the idea of painting a brand new car, and the risk of not getting a good match etc…

The blue interior is pretty special for sure, I like the look of that a lot. So nice.

I did end up getting it painted. I delayed delivery for 3 weeks while the dealer located the correct paint code. It came out really nice and you can’t see any difference, you wouldn’t know it didn’t come that way from the factory.

i also really like the blue interior - it’s definitely a good combination.
