Thanks.

Buy??? Seriously. You've got a problem and you have to pay to find out more information about it?

You can register for free and look up the TSB's for your model without paying. To read the full bulletin or read service manuals you pay.

I have tried the and minds sits and it doesn't chow any documents related to the paint chipping issue. ToPix won't show any useful documents without registering and you need to be an automotive repair business to register.

Has anyone actually seen this bulletin and know it's ID number?

Car is with dealer today to fix a couple,of other issues and I have asked them to look into this, but they said without having yet checked, that they were not aware of this issue.

No issues at all, dealer happy to do repair under warranty. Good news, thanks for your help on this.

I don't have paint peeling however this is a high impact area. Wish I knew earlier, would have had Xpel Ultimate put on when I did the front. Photo taken right after washing the car.

Ouch! I have just received pricing on clear film protection, which includes an option for the rocker panels. Just waiting on a couple of answers to question about fitting and options.

And3rew - great news!

Default ? paint issue too

F Type 18 months old (ex demo). Just scanning the forum. Can't believe have just been discussing this problem with Jaguar today and then decided to search the web to see what the problem could be. Just seen your comments. Have exact same problem with mine. It's definitely not wax. Paint seems to be flaking between the panel join.

Yep that's it exactly the same. I had no arguments from the dealer they are going to fix it.

For those experiencing this issue, is the chipping/flaking only on the plastic lower panels, or do you also have it on the painted aluminum panels above? My car was built 10/13, and I don't see any signs of it after 6K miles.

It's on the plastic panels. Mine started chipping within the first 30 days of ownership and only 300 miles on it.

So it is back all fixed. Only thing is that Jaguar would only fix the side where the problem is they won't proactively do the fix on the other side to stop it happening there.

For those of you who have had this problem have you had it only in one side or on both?

I have small chips happening on both sides. The dealer ordered in the parts that go behind the panel for the fix and I am waiting till the spring to have it repaired. Will be a chance to get the rocker panels re-finished as they have gathered a lot of rock chips. I plan to use Xpel protective film after they are painted but you should apparently wait a couple of months after the respray before the protective film is applied.

Only had it on the left side . Dealer fixed it and still both sides are ok .

The most likely reason for paint flaking on the edges of plastic panels is that during the painting process the edges were a little shy of plastic etch primer.
Subsequent loss of paint adhesion and water penetration will lift the colour coat and leave a chip.

Default Paint issues

I have it on both sides. It started at the 300 mile mark. The dealer says it is caused by the flexing of the panels. The need to be "foamed" according to their research.

I have not done it yet as the car would need the panels re painted and I'm just not ready to do that.

Having watched this thread for a while, I'm starting to wonder whether this problem us particularly evident for convertibles rather than coupes? The coupe is claimed to be 80% stiffer, so is it related to body twist in the vert?
