Porsche Owner Finally Realize Why The F-Type Is Better Than A Porsche 911
its on my short list for sure.
Does a screwdriver make a better hammer than a hammer does a screwdriver? OK. Bad example. The answer to that is obvious.
Yeah, the whole notion of "better" is so subjective as to be meaningless. I have a friend that has a better car than mine, but mine is better than his. We're optimizing for different things. He's not a "car guy" and commutes in New Jersey and I am a car guy who currently does not commute. His little hybrid does everything he wants it to do better than my F-Type ever could, but would not stir even the slightest interest from me. We're optimizing for entirely different things.

It is so true man, these kind of conversations are SO pointless and ridiculous. Childish in a way if I’m being completely honest. I think anyone who goes out of their way to trash other cars (Often to prop up their own car ego), on any level, is not a true car enthusiast.
Most of us have to make a choice among many options that could make us happy (reality). Some will be grownups and be happy with that choice, maintaining the capacity to still appreciate other choices they could have made, and others will be immature and silly. This is how it seems to work in the car community…And likely with most purchased items in other product spaces.
There will always be immature insecure little people out there. It is a maturity/personality issue. Nothing more. Nothing to specifically do with cars, or any other type of product. And frankly, these are the type of people who seem to be running their “car life” like a religion almost.
I considered all kinds of cars when purchasing (5 or 6). Of those it came down to an F-type R and a 911 Carerra S. When I weighed the factors (will be different for all of us) it was the Jag. I bet you if I went 911 I would have enjoyed it as well in the end, and my not purchasing one says nothing about how good the car is or is not. 911s speak for themselves. They are incredibly engineered product. As are many other choices that one could make.
Speaking of comparing the 911 to the F-type, this video popped up on my suggestions this evening and it's worth watching.

I have the good fortune to have access to a 911 Turbo, Turbo-S, GT3, GT3 Touring, Sport Classic, and a Spyder in my son's garage (good fortune because it's not MY fortune), plus my own Targa. The F-Type will keep up with the Targa, but all the others will dominate on a road course. So, Porsche wins the talent division.
But, Jaguar wins the evening gown (top up) and swimsuit (top down) competitions. Given the exhaust tones, I'd add Miss Congeniality.

I saw one in Worthing, England, decades ago, with TOO510W, which amused me at the time. We don't have the benefit of tailoring plates like some countries, so have to be a bit more cunning.
In my area it is:
First and foremost, Corvettes...Corvettes everywhere, especially the C8. Must have something to do with retirement and Florida
Next, Mustangs everywhere
Next, Dodge products
Next, Porsches
Next, A mixture of AMGs, Ms, Audi Rs and all of their variants.
I see only two F-Types (that come to mind) in my local area of travel. And then it is only very once in a while.

Agree! I have a 2015 F-Type R, modified with pulleys, intake, and high flow cats. It produces beastly noises. But... have you guys actually sat in a GT3 at full tilt? The thing sounds ridiculously good. And you can get the 'regular' flat 6's to sound pretty close to the same with an aftermarket exhaust.
And this whole 'better' than a Porsche 911 thing, is so subjective. The F-Type is a grand touring car that acts a bit like a sports car. The 911 (modern) is a sports car that acts a bit like a grand touring car. Once you start talking about early water cooled cars like 996's and 997's, they are different cars altogether. And don't get me started on the air cooled cars - you want a car with uhhh .... "soul".. those cars certainly have it.
I really don't mean to be a wet blanket here, I think the F-type is really amazing.... but the series of "crap on other cars" threads that have been popping up here lately make no sense other than folks with confirmation bias trying to justify their decision as the best one in the world, and their car is better than everyone else's. Fine, go ahead and believe that, but it ain't necessarily true! Why don't we all work on a mutual appreciation for other marques and appreciate that we're not all relegated to boring utilitarian vehicles (we may be someday, if we're driving at all).

I have to agree with Brad. I don't own an F-Type.......yet. Been searching for just the right one to add to the stable. But I do have an '09 XK, and have owned 9 Porsche 911's in my lifetime, currently with a 993 S and a 996 race car. Lots of other sports cars in my long history too. This is a very subjective topic, and considering this is an F-Type forum, I understand the prevailing opinions. But to say one is "better" than the other overlooks the qualities (and faults) of both models, and each have both. I guess I'm just a sports car guy that appreciates and enjoys multiple brands without feeling the need to proclaim one is better than another. Different? Sure, but not necessarily better. I think the sports car enthusiast community (all makes included, and we're a dying breed) would be better served if we embraced that concept.
OK - now let me have it.
Cheers.
Let's be honest. Most people don't take any of these cars anywhere near their potential. Even when I took mine to the track, there was still a lot left in it and I was hoofing along pretty agressively. It comes down to whatever matches your style.
The Corvette is a great car and a huge value for the money.
The 911 checks just about every box there is. It truly does everything very well.
Mustangs and Camaros? You can get a lot of performce for the money and they are like starting kits, infinitely upgradeable.
I never begrudge anyone for their choice of a car. I do get irritated when others begrudge mine because they see theirs as the only right choice. I've foung the F-Type largely flies under the radar. It isn't common, but it's not exotic. It doesn't really fit in anywhere, yet is accepted most places. Many people have no idea what it is and now and then, you come across someone who knows. In the end, the only person I'm trying to impress is myself, which I have. Every time I lock the car and walk away, I look back at it because it is just so damn good looking.

Agree, one of the more pretty cars out there bar none. Regarding performance, most of us definitely are not pushing the cars to the absolute limit on the track, and I certainly hope not doing that on public streets. But I will say it's more about the FEEL rather than outright performance. Drive a GT3 at the same speed your drive your typical F-Type and you'll immediately notice a difference in chassis/steering feedback, turn-in immediacy, and throttle response. Just a totally different experience, for the better or worse depending on what your goals are. Does the F-Type check all my boxes? Nope - but it's hard to argue against the balance of fun, comfort, looks, power and affordability (my 650+hp R would probably sell on the market for around the same as a good shape used Corolla GR).
