Default Potential SVR owner

Hi all,

I am looking around and thinking about picking up an F type svr

One big question that I couldn't seem to find the answer to is;
Is there any mods available to up the power level of the SVR?

While 570 HP is plentiful.. I am wondering if there's anything that can bring the power up.

Asking because I am coming from a 730WHP daily car and I really don't know what to expect.

Tried using search but did not come up with much.

From my understanding the svr is the same engine that is in the v8s and v8r, that's just tuned a little more and that it's a little lighter. As far as more power, I don't think you will get anymore than what the tunes and pulleys are getting on the R.

What car do you have at "730 WHP" that you daily drive? (That would be close to 850+ at the flywheel yes?)

Same engine in the R and SVR, so should be able to the tune/pulley and downpipe modify it and get to 650 engine hp without spending too much and it shouldn't affect driveability. I'm with the others, what was your 730whp daily?

I daily drove a 2017 Mustang GT Supercharged, made 730 WHP on pump 93 stock block.

I am only getting an SVR to switch it up because I am max power before blowing up the block lol

So i parted it off and am now planning to get the SVR.

So 640 ish crank HP is capable easily? Is the ECU Flashed or is it swapped?

Just curious because I have never owned a Jaguar.

Is there any real benefit of getting the SVR over the R? i found one relatively cheap.. 139K CAD for a 2019 fully loaded.

730 WHP yes around 830-840 at the crank.

Horrible on gas but VERY fun to drive.

You are better off getting the "R" model instead of the SVR if you are going to tune the ECU and do pulley swaps etc to increase the HP. (Especially so if you are buying it new off the lot, as your warranty will immediately be void.)

I think you may be disappointed with the final HP numbers as they will not be anywhere near what your Mustang was at.

That said, the F-Type is a great GT car. Perhaps you should re-evaluate just what type of driving you will be doing, as perhaps the F-Type is not what you are needing.

SVR all the way in my opinion. I bet it will run faster 0-60 than your Stang, maybe even better qtr, depending which tires you're running on the Stang of course.
If its a daily, I doubt you're running drag radials, hook up has to be an issue but fun as hell I'm sure. .

Most of the tuners will send you a tool so you can flash the tune yourself. Seems like you appreciate modifying your cars, if so, I'd start with an R. The SVR is nice and has both functional and aesthetic updates over the R, but they are modest, and if you plan to modify the car then I'd start with an R which has same engine, so you'll end up at the same place.

I ran an 11.6@123 in my stock R with no launch. Just took off from the line like I was leaving a light. The jag puts the power down very well. It's so smooth, you don't realize that you are moving as fast as you are. Best auto tranny I have ever felt in my life. Damn near as fast as a dct just smoother.

I would opt for the R, I say this because I’m in your shoes shopping for an R and considered the SVR. But I will do catless, pulley, Tune for mods as those seem to be the only ones really, seems the svr is great if your going to leave stock. I’d get a 16 or 17 R if your going to mod so warranty won’t be a huge issue since it’s in on it’s way out. I’m coming from a 700+ rwhp c7z06 manual. While the R won’t be as fast it will make up for it in many ways, sound being numero uno!

On a side note The F type R platform seems to be pretty reliable, which is always nice to know when modding. Good luck with your search.

Not sure how to multi quote yet but thank you all for the replies.

They are still kind of split but I am now also considering the Type R. I do enjoy modding and like Ltrain said, the exhaust note on these cars is what sold me.
And its a sexy looking car of course, I hardly see it around here!

I am looking for a coupe, I would have loved convertible but I am not a fan of soft top (wish they offered Targa).

I did daily my car with slicks lmao, not the wisest thing to do because its very scary driving in the rain but I got used to it haha.

Going to go check one out next weekend, will keep you all posted

As a slightly bias opinion here, have you considered other models of the Jag?

You obviously have the money/means for an F-Type, but might I suggest this XKR-S. It has the same engine, with the 6 speed auto, and is much more rare.

This one has only 10,300 KM and is listed at $70K (You can probably get it for closer to $65K.)

There were six different ones that all sat for sale for over the past two years. Then about 2 months ago they all got bought up. I think perhaps one collector has six or seven of them sitting in his collection now.

And they are super-rare in Canada.

I was all ready to pick up a CPO XKR-S. I went to the dealer to take a look at it and there sat an F-Type.

I dig the rareness and some of the things about the R-S. I even like the Supra-ish looks and the kids seats in the back. But drive the two and there is no comparison. Even without the F-Types great looks, the F-Type has a much more sporty interior, a better ride and in my case, the AWD. This isn't to mention an actual sports steering wheel and a slap shifter instead of the little knob.

It just so happens that I saw a nice white one at Jaguar Vancouver just yesterday. Looked awesome. It was in service parking ready for pick up.


(I was only there for a boring old CEL. New fuel pump now on its way! New exhaust to follow shortly, I hope.)

All the XKR-S GT's for North America were white, however in Europe there were four IIR cars and one Black car, along with nine more White cars.
