Before going nuclear, sit down with sales manager, clearly outline this situation and ask what they could do to make it up to you. You are taking non-trivial residual value hit for having it painted.

Thank you all for your help and input!

I consulted my attorney and decided to send a demand letter via email to the sales guy and service manager. I asked them to run it by the management. I told them I will consider one of the following 3 options and gave them till Monday to resolve it to my satisfaction or face a Deceptive Trade Practices lawsuit which could result in triple damages.

1. Take the damaged and poorly repaired car back and give me a new comparable car, or
2. Make proper repairs and compensate me to make up for the diminished value, or
3. Take the car back and make a full refund to include all taxes and fees.

It is amazing how the paint is in such poor shape on a car with 83 miles on it and after being treated by the dealer and at a 3rd party shop. My 3-year old car has much better paint/finish. I guess being a black car doesn’t help as every little blemish shows more on black paint.

No... No... No. A good body shop will be able to see if any parts were changed and repainted. For that kind of money you bought a perfect far. It may have unfortunatly been damaged taking it off the car carrier or on a demo. I would also ask them to see the delivery information. If it was delivered originally to another dealer (mine actually was delivered in Ok and I got it in Naples) they may have fixed it and traded it for something they needed from your dealer. With that low mileage I doubt it.

I would bring it back and get another car. If you can tell so will others at trade in or private resale and have the same questions. If you keep it have it repaired at a shop of your choice and unfortunatly be prepared for diminished value.

That is what I would do but please keep us updated.

Having painted the exhaust tips and removed the badging on the rear may make things more awkward on a return...

Doesn't mean dealer had car the whole time. My dealer seems to aquire a new '18 every time he sells one.My service rep has told me about on going paint problems since the '14 chip problem. They don't get paid to fix until vehicle is sold, how dumb. How do you sell it new and imperfect. The only dealer I let wash our cars is our Maserati dealer. They sell Ferrari, Rolls, Bentley, and Aston also. Comes out looking detaled! But they can't do anything in one day! I toke the guys to polish my Jag when I can get away with it. Use Bentley polish! Usually $50.
