After research and debating about how much to spend on a phone holder, finally pulled the trigger on one of the more expensive options; ProClip. I was able to find a 15% discount, so that took some sting out of the cost (~$78 USD). Order fulfillment was prompt (2 days), and it took me about 5 minutes to assemble the cradle to the mounting bracket using a small Phillips-head screwdriver. All-in-all, pretty satisfied. The position of the phone is good (Portrait or Landscape) and when the phone is not in the cradle, the unit isn't too visually distracting. I didn't use the supplied "sticky-tape" and the holder is very firmly attached to the console trim. (I didn't use the tape so I could easily remove the holder.)
Looks like a great fit and clean install. I just do not see any benefit in quickly glancing down for ANY info.
I tried the cheapo velcro wrapped around the passenger "Oh Crap" handle with magnetic cell attachment.
Been on 14 months and serves me very well.
Good Luck,
Spark Man
I connect my Android phone via a cable and listen to SiriusXM or Spotify. Having the phone in that position makes it easier to make "channel" changes when I'm sitting in traffic or stopped at a signal. I considered the "wrap" mount on the "Oh sh_t" handle too.
For me the most important thing about a phone holder is having the phone up high near the windshield so that you don't have to look down. Our peripheral vision falls off sharply. The further away from the road I have to look the greater my chance of failing to see something in time to avoid it. My 2 cents.
