PSA: Jag doors leak like crazy inside!
If you have installed aftermarket mid-bass drivers in your doors, beware!
The stereo sounded a bit thin and left one day a couple weeks ago. Put an ear to each of the driver locations and I had no mid-bass on the passenger door. Checked the output at the amp and all was good. Removed the door card and the driver. Found the stupid tiny hex screws in the GB60 corroded. Popped an Audible Physics AR6K in the hole temporarily and ordered a pair of Morel MW9’s to replace the damaged GB60’s. Texted JagBass to check his doors. He sent back pictures of his MW9’s with some signs of discoloration caused by water. He also sent a video of water cascading into the door cavity while he held a hose up to the window seal.
We quickly devised a solution using NVX silicone shields and HDPE baffles but I think I’ll be rethinking my weekly car wash. If you still have factory drivers you should be fine. If you’ve done the LR premium upgrade, hopefully you used a decent gasket material when mounting them up.
