Default Question about side mirrors when in reverse

I tried searching because I know I've read a bit about it, but can't find exactly what I'm looking for.

I know the side mirrors adjust when you are in reverse. My right/passenger side one is still working as normal. I noticed yesterday that my left/driver's side is not moving at all. I tried adjusting it to where it would normally be (approximately) to see if that changed anything, but when I came out of reverse it stayed down instead or reverting to the usual place. Ideas? It is a weird programming thing and I just need to totally reprogram that mirror or does it sound like there's an actual issue with it? Regular adjustment works fine, it's just that automatic part that isn't.

I do remember reading a thread about being able to adjust where it ends when it moves for reverse, but that's all (and even now I couldn't find that thread - again, it's morning, I'm tired and haven't had enough coffee yet so likely just not thinking of the right search terms, but I tried being very generic and using reverse mirror and backup mirror).

Thanks y'all!

'Mirror dip' in reverse is a menu setting, and it's speed dependent too (it undips if you reverse too fast.) But it only affects the passenger-side mirror, not the driver side. Driver mirror doesn't dip.

Correct -the driver's mirror does not dip when reverse is selected. Barb, you can relax about this part of your car's functioning at least! It is operating properly.

I think the early models were user-adjustable to fix it in a specific dipped position, but Jag changed it to a fixed dip (which dips too much for me) on mine and I find it basically useless. Only workaround is to disable the reverse dip and preload the dip of choice into one of the seat memories, but it's a right faff.

Huh. For some reason I could have sworn they both did. Shows how much I use mirrors to back up (usually I turn around to look and don't even like trusting the camera, although I've gotten better about using all the tools in my arsenal.

Still, thank you all for the reassurance that it isn't another gremlin (although I was hoping if it were that would be the overall gremlin).
