Default Quickjack question

Who here is using the 7000TL model with their F-type (or has)? What has been your experience?

Thank you

Don't have that model but a BL-5000-SLX. Works fine as long as you make sure you follow the initial bleeding instructions.

K, good to hear. I was looking to get the higher lift height of the TL (apparently it makes quite an nice difference), and the higher capacity of the 7000 series for other vehicles.

I'm not into big trucks or SUVs so the 5000 was enough for my needs. I found the lift height fine for the stuff I have used it for: Crank pulley, brake flush, diff oil change, change brake pads. On other cars tire rotation, oil changes, brake jobs, etc.

The only issue is for doing things in the middle of the car like O2 sensors since the jacks block side access. I know you can use the jacks the other way but never tried it.

Feel like I'm missing something here perhaps. Can't you just go in with your creeper from the back or front and do the O2 sensor work (or anything similar)?

Perhaps you don't have a lot of front to back room in your garage or something?

Yes you can but I am old and stiff. Plus the creeper does use up some of the headspace between you and the underside of the car so I that would be an advantage of having a higher lift capability.

BTW if I am going to going to slide under the car between the jacks I set safety jacks under one end of each jack just in case the jack lock slips.

Okay, gotcha...

Yeah, I definitely want that extra lift height for that specific reason, and for general reasons of comfortable work space etc...The TL versions are not really that much more, so it's a no brainer in my mind.

I totally understand the extra precautions. I'm paranoid and will probably do something similar. My buddy has been using a 5000 series with his Aston Martin for over 6 years now. He says that he has never felt unsafe, but I agree, extra precautions are not a bad idea at all...

I have the QuickJack 7000 TL and use it all the time with my F-Type. It's a little heavier than the 5000 so a little harder to maneuver into position. I added some steel ball rollers that allow me to roll it into position rather than having to slide it across the garage floor. Here is a good thread with options to make moving them around easier - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...with-ease.html.

I chose the 7000 series for the added capacity and lift height. Works great with the F-Type and allows me to use it on a wider range of vehicles.

Okay, so there was no need to go for the TLX then. Sounds like the TL gets er' done.

Thanks for the response, this was exactly what I was hoping for...Someone who specifically uses the 7000 TL.

Mine will be a 2024 R. I assume the lift points are exactly the same...

Do you take any extra precautions, or do you feel pretty safe in your experience?

I believe the lift points should be the same for all F-Types, regardless of model year or configuration. My car feels very stable when up on the lift and I have no concerns with rolling around under the car on a creeper and doing work. I like the suggestion from RGPV6S to add a jack stand under one end of each QuickJack as a precaution. Will try that the next time I have the car on the lift. If nothing else, it will make my wife feel better about me spending time under the car. 🙂

I don't believe the 7000TL will be able to reach the recommended lift points since the maximum lift spread is only 60". I purchased my QuickJack back in 2015 and recently upgraded it with 5000 TLX frames which have a maximum lift spread of 66" and they're the perfect size.

Appreciate your input. The 7000TL is clearly workable given Gearhead's post above...That's his F-type on a 7000TL.

That said, perhaps the fit of the TLX is more ideal? Too bad costco doesn't sell it for the same great price as the TL.

Yeah, I'm sure you can make it work. My point was that the F-Type has specific lift points which are about 57" apart on center so you really need a minimum of 61" to reach them using QuickJack's rubber blocks. That's a stretch for a TL since it only spans 60" but is well within range of the TLX's 66".

One thing I forgot to mention in my posts above. Do not waste your time or money on the rubber blocks with pinch trim slots. They take way, way too much time to align - once you try once you will know what I mean.

Just use the solid blocks. They just deform to allow for the pinch trim height.
