Quoted 52k to replace carbon ceramic brakes, any aftermarket options?

On the higher end Jet Aircraft, carbon/carbon brakes are the norm. Our various Gulfstream aircraft all use them. The brake shop can overhaul them, but the rotors and stators (stators are like full circle pads) wear as a matched set. That's why one cannot replace one stator that has some minor fault. The entire stack must be replaced. About $80K.
HOWEVER, it is possible to machine both components flat and have a newly matched set again with zero performance loss, "IF" there is sufficient material to remain well within the working wear limits.
Also of note, the steel brakes with sintered metallic stators work just as well. But they only work once, such as 1 high speed aborted takeoff, before they exceed temperature limits and performance suffers. That's fine really, as the Carbon ones will catch fire on the second aborted takeoff.
If your brakes are truly bad, I'd switch to some high end racing steel brakes and go on my way.

Convert to steel...get the girodiscs from Stuart at VAP and work with him on calipers/adaption. I suspect this could be a huge opportunity for VAP to come up with a "conversion kit" for those with ceramic systems. Guessing 5-8k total.....so a huge benefit to owners too...not cheap, but not 40-55k either.
Note to self - continue to avoid ceramic brakes like the plague unless I get a driver contract and someone else is paying for the car....

Located in Canada and was quoted $52,000 to replace pads and rotors on the F Type SVR with carbon ceramics. That is way too much for me to stomach, so I’d like to ask:
1. Am I able to swap to the steel “super performance” brakes?
2. are there any aftermarket brake options that will work on the CCBs? I looked around but I can only find ones for the steels.

As noted above. Have them weighed. That is why the weight is on them. DO NOT let the dealer weigh them unless they have experience. Send them (or one front one rear) to an exotics shop where they do it all the time. If the car is not tracked I very much doubt you need them. Pads yes and should be lower labor. A caliper change is about a 10 minute job. You can get rotors for $4200 each I believe.

Man am I glad that I went for the R over the SVR then. I recently picked up my 2020 R and was debating between that and a 2019 SVR with CCB. The main reason I opted for R was due to a $20K accident claim on the SVR Carfax but damn I dodged a bullet insofar as CCB are concerned.
