Default r1 concept braking kit?

Hello, does anyone know anything about r1 concept braking kits? I'm looking at this set : https://www.r1concepts.com/detail_ca...+Optimum_OEp++ but they do not offer performance brake pads, i wonder why.

I track my car sometimes and I need something reliable that won't fade unexpectedly and kill me on the track

I don't have an F-type but have recently put R1 Concepts drilled and slotted performance rotors and pads on my XKR, and love them. I have not been to the track with them yet, but am impressed with their smoothness and stopping abilities as well as their customer service was first rate. If you call them they were very helpful and may be able to steer you in the best direction. I had a very good experience with them.

sadly they don't offer performance pads for the ftype just the optimum oep whatever that means, i'm sure their rotors are good but the pads is what i am worried about, i guess i can change them out if they are not what i'm looking for back to oem pads or rs4 pads

Looking at the page you link to I have two bits of feedback:
1. Their "OEp" pads appear to be pretty much identical to the OEM pads, although they are probably a fair bit cheaper than OEM pads. My advice - go with Porterfield R4S instead if you rarely track the car, but if you regularly track it then worth trying their OEp pads.
2. You have selected "S" and it's obvious by toggling between S and R that their S package is for the standard S brakes ("high performance") 380 mm front and 326 mm rear. OK if that's what you have, but if you have the "super performance" brakes 380 mm front and 376 mm rear you need to select "R" instead of "S".

OEM setup is decent, borderline great. I have not experienced fading with larger calipers.

Are you sure? I thought 380mm fronts in 2016 model year were red. Having them painted different color only became available in later years.

Due to the black calipers it's odds on you have the 326 mm rears, but that's not a certainty as it was possible (but rare) to order the 376 mm rears with black calipers.
The 326 and 376 mm calipers are almost identical in appearance so that doesn't help, your best bet is to look at the rotors.
The 376 mm rotors have a very large "void" around the hub, much larger than the 326 mm ones.
Or else just grab a tape rule and measure the diameter, even a rough measure with the wheel still on should tell you if you have 376 or 326.

Dunno if that is the way to go.
There are some reports that the Porterfield R4S are plenty OK for street use but they aren't up to the job on the track where they fade fast, while the OEM pads are not that bad on the track (as SinF says).
I would try the OEp first on the track but take your OEM pads as back up if they turn out to be no good.

Gobbledegook.
I can't decipher what it is supposed to be saying about your brakes.
As I said before just grab a tape rule and (roughly) measure the diameter of a rear brake rotor, simples!

15” = 381mm, 14.8”=376mm. But no way I’d buy pads based on guessing how to decode that.

I have the standard V6S black ‘High Performance’ brakes with 19” wheels. I can get 2 fingers between the rotor and wheel barrel in front (380mm) and 4 fingers in back (326mm), though my fingers are now covered in brake dust. It is not difficult to see that the rear rotor is smaller than the front.

haha thanks for that, i just measured my rotors, fronts are 380mm and the back i measured close to 325mm, they are definitely not anywhere near 380mm so i'm certain i got the 325mm rears.

I also emailed R1 and they told me they indeed have the track pads so i ordered track pads for the fronts and ceramics for the back. I will make a full update post on how they work when i install them.

I had my previous BMW F30 installed with R1 concept rotors & pads. The rotors are good and I liked them. BUT the pads from them is really bad, I definitely DO NOT recommend getting pads from them, is weak on stopping and cause noise. But the rotors are worth the price

This is directly from the 2014 sales brochure. it explains the brake options and the color of the calipers.

Also mentions about the cooling and the CFD that went into the ducting of the air for components. The front calipers also are aluminum for reduced weight.

The high performance brakes could also be optioned in red.

I second this. Recently tried Stoptech pads, which were basically premium version of Centrics, which also sourced similarly from R1 Concepts. The pads were god awful. Materials were semi metallic, which were inferior to the OEM's ceramic. The tabs were also broken and extremely flimsy, to the point the installer recommended against installing them. Rotors worked just fine though, but honest opinion, drilled/slotted are cosmetic. They are just as heavy as the OEM rotors. Didn't stop me from getting the rotors though, as they were much cheaper than Wortec, and I'm mostly aiming for visual.

To my knowledge, nothing in the aftermarket can beat OEM, at least when it comes to OEM fitting pads. Our market is unfortunately kind of niche. Whereas brands like BMW get tons of aftermarket support, we sometimes have to work with what we've got.

OEM F-Type brake pads are not ceramic, they are semi-metallic just like the Centric, Stoptech and R1 pads although they are better quality and a better fit.
EBC "redstuff" ceramic pads and Porterfield R4S easily beat OEM pads for lack of noise, lack of dust and much smoother and more progressive operation.
And they fit perfectly both front and rear.
