And they fit perfectly both front and rear.
Really? I looked at it and they looked ceramic to me...gonna have to taste test it. Either that or the Stoptech pads really look like crap. I have to check out EBC's. Used their greens before and were great. Thanks for the suggestion.

Track or hard driving - EBC Yellow Stuff
Normal street driving - Centric PosiQuiet METALLIC (virtually identical to OEM)

You could get 380/376 with BLACK calipers from MY 2017 (I did)

R1 Geomet Slotted only is the best rotor you can put on the F-Type

I've had the EBC Redstuff on my V8 XF for 4+ years (with R1 concepts rotors) and been very pleased. It's the same 380mm brake system. They are smooth, quiet and v low dust. Vast improvement. Like the drilled / slotted look too

Only difference I notice is in very wet and cold weather it takes a moment to displace the water before it starts to bite.

Just dropping my experience since this forum has always been so helpful to me.

Based on constant positive reviews of the forum members I purchased the following from R1 Concepts for my 2014 S with red calipers (super performance)

https://www.r1concepts.com/detail_ca...+Optimum_OEp++

I had purchased the slotted not drilled for the extra bite, without the potential of cracking with cross drilled.

I had them installed right before the pandemic, so I've only driven it a few hundred miles at this point at most.

Initial thoughts.
Positives
1. My mechanic had no issues installing them
2. Much cheaper than OEM
3. Was a bit less than than stop tech, but everything I read seems to put them at the same level, and there really does not seem to be a level above this that cover front and rear.
4. They look better than the old rotors (because of the slots)

Negatives
1. The packaging was crap, they could of a better job presenting and packaging something you to are trusting with your life with and is a decent amount of money
2. My brakes are still squeaking and smell which I would of thought that would be gone by now (R! claims this is normal until full break in at around 500miles)
3. They feel softer when braking compared to my old oem rotors and pads which had about 60k miles on them.

I'd definitely be interested in hearing from any one whom has the R1 rotors but has switched to pads that might perform better.

Hi, I dont want to be a Debbie Downer but I have just had to take off my R1 pads and rotors because of persistent noise issues in the front. The mechanics said that they have had similar issues with them in the past. I am waiting for the car to come back Monday, if it ends up not being the rotors and it is something else I will post again. There is always the possibility that the mechanics are wrong.

That said, they look awesome and they had plenty of bite.

DO NOT use the R1 concept brake pads, their brake pads are pretty bad while the rotors are actually fine. I have their brake pads for few months, keep squeaking and weak on braking. Since I hates on that squeaking a lot, I decide to change the pads with other better brand. Then I find out on of the brake pad is actually broken(missing a piece from the pad), with running in few months less then 2,000 miles. The rotors itself are fine and satisfy. After I changed to pads, no more squeak appear and brake much better.

Which brake pad brand/model did you switch to?

I was having the R1 Concept installed on my previous bmw 335i not the Jag, and since Jag brake pads option is less in the market compare to the BMW it might not capable for the Jag. But I changed it to Akebono ceramic brake pads and I am satisfy with it. However I assume is the common issue for R1 Concept, which their brake pads are usually cause noise. R1 concept does a good job on the rotors for that price, but I still recommend to change the pads to other brand.

I put R1 Concept drilled and slotted rotors on my 5.0L XKR about 6-8 months ago as well as the front pads. I noticed some "groaning" not really squeaking for the first few weeks but that has disappeared, and I am just thrilled with the rotors. They're great looking, smooth as silk in stopping, no vibration when slowing on the freeway, and no rust after washing. The pricing was obviously outstanding.

R1 slotted rotors has been on my list for some time, but the reviews I’ve read online have been mixed... several examples of people finding them truly awful, but revised their review after R1 reached out to them. Which is great customer service, but maybe not a great product. Other people love them.

I've said so before (maybe even in this thread!) that as far as I can tell all the "cheap" after-market brake discs/rotors especially the slotted and/or drilled are the exact same Chinese made ones across all the different brands, and that includes R1 Concepts.
And the XF and XFR use the exact same discs/rotors both front and rear as the F-Type, so that's 380 and 355 mm front and 376 and 326 mm rear.
Don't pay extra for F-Type versions, just get the XF ones instead. Literally hundreds of hits and a massive amount of choices if you search Fleabay Motors for "Jaguar XF brake rotors".
Not the same with the brake pads though, yes the front pads are identical but the rears are very different.

I suspect quite often the issues are in the install vs the product. Hub face not cleaned properly, didn't put lube on the contact points etc.
That said the first set of drilled/slotted R1 rotors I put on my XF developed bad pulsing on braking after about 8 months. R1 replaced for free under warranty and they have been great for 2+ years since then. So I would agree their customer service is good

My mechanics said that the rotor compound is too hard for a performance car. Only repeating what I was told, but they claim that they have had multiple cases of problems with them especially noise issues like I had. Now I am not an expert by any means and I cant really assess a good mechanic although the shop is full of high performance cars (including a lovely old sky blue and orange 911) with well over 10 bays in use at the time, I'm guessing they know what they are talking about.

not sure I’m understanding your comment - do you mean specifically that the R-1 compound is too hard? I just recently ordered a set of their geomet rotors, but all my research indicated that their products are good and didn’t notice anything particular about the materials they use that would cause an issue. Thanks.

Not sure about the geomet rotors, mine were the black ones. They didnt think the pads fitted properly and thought the rotors themselves should be softer for people who want to give the car a squirt. Their view is that I needed OEM or german made. I mentioned several times that people didnt have problems with them (or used different pads), they said that they have come across them before with similar issues to what I was having.

You will probably be fine, but dont throw out the old ones as they cost a bomb to replace if you want them back on.

Fair enough, the OEM discs only have 15k and I always hang on to parts that I remove or replace (except wear items etc.). I have porterfield pads; they seem to be well regarded and without issues so they will be paired with the R1’s when they arrive. I’m also painting the centers and vents black prior to install. The satin black will match the spacers and conceal the non-contact portion of the rotor from view.

thanks.
