Default Radar Detector

Has anyone successfully mounted a detector in the radar ‘window’ above the mirror in 2017? If so, what detector and mount did you use? I have a max 360 and, with all of the superstructure of the mirror and its sensors, will not fit.

Check out this thread.

I noticed you are in Palo Alto. You really should invest in some laser jammers because there is more laser around there than radar.

I had some luck with mounting a redline using a cheap visor mount on the passenger side. I had decent Ka band range, but the receiver’s “view” through the limited RF transparent space was not optimal. I’m currently using AntiLaser Priority and remote Netradar front and rear with great results.

Yep, wish I had done that. I went with the ALP which has been great, but carried over my old Beltronics STI-R. Piece of crap falsely alerts all.the.time.

My StiR+ was great for Ka band. Here in Calif, K band is rare so I didn't have to put up with all the false alerts. My StiR died a ways back and I went the NetRadar route. NetRadar is getting great reviews for K band false rejection and the new DSP receiver has MCRD built in for our Canadian friends.

I also turn off K band in California. All CHP uses 34.7. Some sheriffs and local police use 35.5. I have never seen valid 33.8 in California but 33.8 is what Nevada Highway Patrol use.

I would have no hesitation turning off K Band. I even turn it off on my Uniden radar detectors which have good k band filtering.

I'm also having ALP installed on my '17 literally as we speak. That being said, i've been running a Radenso SE for the last few weeks. It's an incredibly small detector that fits in the space. I would look into that if the $3k+ for a full ALP / Escort CI solution isn't feasible.

Message me if you have questions!

I didn't have much of a problem with false K-Band alarms until I got My Valentine1 updated. The increased sensitivity made the detector useless for my commute so I disabled K-Band entirely. The Highway Patrol uses Ka and some of the locals use laser.

My Passport Max 360 is mounted high to the back right of the rear view. It works just as it did on my previous vehicle.
