Default Radio Issue

Hi. I need some help. Recently the radio in my 2015 F type has developed two problems. First, about 2 minutes after startup the radio shuts off. If I touch the screen it comes back on and no problem thereafter. Second, after shutdown the radio comes back on after a period of time. It may be a few minutes after shutdown or a few hours. It can be turned off by hitting the start button twice or waiting 7-8 minutes at which point it shuts down. The radio / volume switch has no effect on either of the above situations. Any thoughts?

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to F-Type forum. It is a model-specific question.

The usual advice regards electrical gremlins is to do a 'cold boot'/reset by disconnecting the ground lug from the main battery. A few minutes off, should do it.

You may need to reset the one touch up/down power window feature after this (instructions in the Owners Handbook).

+++++++++++++

Another Good Practice is to drive your F at least once a week for 30 - 45 minutes at a time. Short trips will not totally recharge the AGM battery.

If you have a maintainer (search CTEK) keep it hooked up if it's not a daily driver. If you do daily short trips in cold weather, hook up the CTEK overnight at least once a week.

I did disconnect the battery but only for a few seconds. I'll try disconnecting for 10 minutes and report back tomorrow. I will add this: although the rotary volume works fine, I have to 'wiggle' the on/off switch to turn off the radio. Almost like it is gummed up inside

I reckon that's a big clue right there and you probably have a stuck or broken switch.

To finish this thread off: I bought some electronic cleaner and sprayed the radio rotary switch. I left it overnight and although it is still a little 'sticky' the issues I had seem to be resolved

If a drink was spilled on the switch. That's something that will be hard to fully clean out without disassembly. Might even be easier to replace the switch.

Once what ever was spilled starts to get hard again you will once again have problems.
